Suuuuuuuuup baws.. first few pours were a tasting of the Wilderness Trail Bourbon Fest Bourbon and Rye picks from Little Verons and Champagne's Pinhook 6yr pick, then a comp between the WT Rye pick and Old Forester Rye, next PD while taking advantage of these lower temps
Well what do you think?

Champagne's Pinhook 6yr pick,
Is this new?

Not sure if its new, but it was mixed in there with the 5yr picks. Both are yellow bottles and Castle and Key distillate. EDIT: both are yellow bottles, 6yr is C&K distillate. My mistake.

I had the Marcellos pick of the WT Bourbon a few weeks back and this one is completely different. Marcellos was much more malty and hot imo (but still very good, yall go grab a bottle while they're there). I'll have to grab another pour from my buddy (he got the last bottle) in order to compare, but off of memory, the thing that stood out was that it was buttery both in mouthfeel and finish. The rye has a caramel note to it that brings the profile to the deeper side, but for being 104pf its incredibly full flavored. Idk how they managed that tbh. No bright dill or mint at all in this one. Much more earthy with caramel sweetness. Makes me wanna go get a bottle of the other 2 barrels tbh

Maybe the 5yr was, but the 6yr was Castle and Key, i made sure to check that. It's the single barrel compared to the Rouses small batch Bourbon Heist purple label. It has a similar funk to it

Local store did store picks of all of these. Just wondering if anyone had tried any of these and which ones they recommend.

I’m interested to hear on this. I purchased the William Dalton yesterday but have not cracked it.

Is there a website/app that y’all use to check prices before buying bourbons?
I’ve always drank it in college as mixed drinks but am new to the more expensive sipping kinds
I’ve noticed prices vary tremendously from store to store. For instance, I found a Jack single barrel for 39.99 and another store had it for 49.99

Few stores will have an up to date website, but in general if you find a store with good prices, they'll have better prices for most things. I keep a log of all the ones I buy, where, and how much, and what I think about it in Google keep so it's with me as I shop.

I had tried 2 picks from Maisano’s and it didn’t blow me away. I passed on both
