I’m here to say covid has taken my smell and taste and it is the most depressing thing I’ve dealt with in a long time.

I don’t think I can handle it much longer. I fear this could be my nightmare for a couple more weeks.

olfactory training worked well for me in regaining my nose and palate. Food came back quick, but all my bottles had the same sickening sweet ethanol nose and palate...was awful.

Basic idea is using four essential oils (citrus of some kind, eucalyptus, rose, and peppermint) inhale these deeply while thinking about the scents as you remember them. What you're essentially doing is retraining your brain. You are smelling, but it's not reaching your brain to be perceived. This will help retrain those pathways. I spent about a month or 2 without any bourbon nose or palate and about a week into doing this had a breakthrough.

Also, if you have a bottle with a really strong distinct profile....maybe even a shitty one, drink that and think on it same as oils. Ragged branch helped me here.

Going on 2 weeks since I lost smell/taste. It didn’t bother me when I was laid up sick. Now that I’m all better it is driving me mad.

I am thankful that I was able to whoop deltas arse though. Covid is a tricky little count bag.

toof, truly sorry for your loss mate

Dorignacs has a couple Booker's 2021-02 on the shelf if anyone is looking. Surprisingly well priced too.

not sure if this was stated but Nunu's has a 1792 full proof and a Woodford Reserve pick in ( in addition to their Old Elk and Whistle Pig). Scooped up the 1792

I am not a huge fan of the Bookers line.

We seem to have gotten a nice allotment of KC12. I have seen it available at several places

It's been one of my favorite pours. Glad that it's readily available, for now

Grabbed a new one at Rouses today so I can stop nursing the current bottle. It's not worth secondary, but hard to beat for 40 bucks.

BIL tested positive for covid today, and I had to leave the office immediately and have to stay out the office for the next several days since I had contact with him over the weekend. So.....
