ETA: basically it's a relationship thing, unless you want to spend a ton of money. Also, relationships with other bourbon drinkers will pay off as well. You do a favor for them, they'll do a favor for you.
Another thing that I think is important to know, is that there are plenty of bottles that are just as good (if not better) than the rare Buffalo Trace stuff (Weller, EH Taylor, Blanton's, ect...), that can be easier to find.

I find weller in Ohio. Latest haul
The rest I get from my local store whom I talk to owner once a week. Sometimes luck out with other places just in random stop ins. I found a case of Taylor barrel proofs last year on a random stop.
