again, your referring to perceived secondary market value
I'm also basing it on my personal preference.
I'm not saying Handy is bad, I have a bottle in my collection, it's just not my first choice for rye.

I appreciate your feedback. You keep referring to secondary market demand which isn't the issue. Right now people would be willing to trade multiple antique bottles for some Cured Oak. Doesn't mean the Cured Oak is better. Curious what people's opinion was on the actual taste of the whiskey.
I am not sure how these Whiskey competitions work but I would have to imagine the judges are blind tasting and for Handy to win best overall says something. I know at the end of the day its personal preference.

Secondary market pricing on established items (i.e. not Cured Oak type flash in the pan) can be very indicative of the quality of the product to expect. Which is why certain years of releases can command such a higher premium.

so according to your logic, when it's THH bottling time they just tell the barrel dude to just grab 'em 50 or so barrels off the "baby saz" rack and call it a day?

They probably get the "select" barrels just like pappy lot b vs weller 12, but yes, it's just an uncut/unfiltered baby saz.

Other than 2006 and 2009, the age on THH has never varied more than 3 months, all being 6 years old.
But please, educate me....
Edit: it was 2009, not 2008.
Nice reference of ages:
2006 - 8 years, 5 months
2007 - 6 years, 5 months
2008 - 6 years, 5 months
2009 - 7 years, 3 months
2010 - 6 years, 3 months
2011 - 6 years, 5 months
2012 - 6 years, 3 months
2013 - 6 years, 4 months
2014 - 6 years, 3 months

My understanding is that the latest batch hasnt hit shelves yet and no one has any at the moment. I do know a batch is supposed to hit shelves in the not to far off future. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Good luck, you can't find it at most places. Word in the street is that they are supposed to be distributing some more soon.

Can someone please provide me a link for these secondary markets everyone refers to. I am curious to take a look and see what its all about. Do people offer up trades on these things? Thanks in advance
