Avenue pub (upstairs bar)
Excellent bourbon and beer selection
If you want to stay in the FQ, bourbon house has all of their PVW/BTAC now. FYI, Be careful when ordering at bourbon house.. On two separate occasions, I've ordered WLW from the waitress and was handed weller reserve.. I now go to the bar and watch it being poured.
Thanks very much - the avenue looks great and appears to be fairly well priced. Most of what I will drink is available on the balcony only. Are those seats hard to get? Can I walk to this place from the French Quarter? We are going to be around from Monday through Friday, so I'll probably hit the Avenue up a couple of times...
Thanks again Uncle JackD....

You will not want to try to walk to Ave pub from the quarter! If in the quarter id hit up bourbon house and get a few raw oysters while at it. Take a cab to ave pub.

Also check out the times that the 2nd floor opens up... During the week it may not be until 5. Make sure u try the dump truck fries too

Avenue Pub is your spot as Jack & others echoed...
If you're staying off Canal St (Sheraton, Marriott) or don't mind walking, you could actually take the streetcar (we don't call it a trolley and neither should you), if you want a cab it's probably only $10 bucks or so.
Take the St Charles line (green) and not the Canal line toward Uptown/Carrolton down to A-Pub. Can get off at Euterpe or Felicity and walk a block to the pub.
The upstairs area (where all the good stuff is) opens at 5pm Sun-Thurs and at 1pm Fri-Sat.
There's a ton of great beer but the bourbon display is pretty outrageous.
You might be able to do a Pappy flight if available (prob $65 for 15-20-23) or a Four Roses Small Batch flight ('12-'13-'14)...but there's plenty of truly great juice regardless.
Enjoy the trip...if I see any Buckeyes there in the next few weeks I'll buy a round for y'all....Buck Fama!

Straight Rye for daily pours, my vote goes to Michter's (Although the 10 year is much better). But I'm also a big fan of the Whistle Pig 11 year 111 proofer. But at that price you might as well crack open the THS or the Sazerac.
Speakin of, Unc, I still have some of this years AE Rye for you to try.

Oh man, all this ETL is making me want have a pour of my own. Damn self-imposed drinking ban is getting in my way. I told myself no more alcohol until I finish up an article I'm writing for class, and hopefully I'll be done tomorrow. Until then, I'm living vicariously through y'all.
