Uncle Jack, I bought a promotional Eagle Rare Bourbon Gift Set back in 1984. It was in a wooden box with two gold rimmed glasses and a bottle. I have never opened it. Does it have any value? I will take pics and post when I get home.

can i have it??

I'll buy it for you if you hook me up with the set of Le'Nells...

Got any bourbon bar suggestions in NYC? Or bottle shops in midtown that might have something interesting? I'll be there this weekend.

Sorry man - just getting around to noticing this today. Depending on where you are staying, ward iii in Tribeca or Maysville in Chelsea. However, you will probably find both quite overpriced.

If you enjoy really great craft cocktails without a high-end bourbon selection, try Milk and Honey or Please Don't Tell. M&H is in the flatiron district and PDT is in the LES.

Let me know if I can help with additional info and enjoy your trip.
What's the price on the 2014 small batch? Let me know if you happen to have the 125th for sale.

Cheers friends. Hope you guys are enjoying the weekend...
I-O baby....

Thx for the support. Overall, I think that we match up well with Oregon, however, in college, the QB is the great equalizer and Mariotta is good - really good. If the line can get pressure and contain, we should be alright...
Hey Friends -

Happy New Year! Thanks again for the info regarding NO. Wife and I had a great time. The Avenue pub was a blast and Brock - as well as the other staff - were great.

Obviously the game was the highlight of the week, however, we definitely enjoyed ourselves in your great city.

Hopefully you don't mind if I stick around and share in bourbon escapades.....

Let's see what DFW brings this weekend :pimp:

Cheers

No way people are paying this shite???

Dude - I saw that too. I've seen people on SWT and BX pay decent $$ for Weller 12 too....
Thanks. It looks good NOLAGT - how did it turn out?

Man that's late buck...haven't cracked any of my 14sb since I have the 13 still. When I closer to the bottom I like to a/b it.

We get stuff real late in New York because label approval is a real pain in the arse. Pappy hit last week and still no BTAC. Kinda blows, but what can you do?

That moonshine looks delicious! I don't know that I've ever had moonshine. LOL. If I have, I can't recall. Can you buy it in NOLA?

Man Im not all that impressed. I opened one, sold one, and may trade my other... It's really hot and tastes young.

Was afraid that may be the case, as you aren't the first person I've spoken with that has had a similar opinion...

I've got a buddy with an open bottle. I'll have to swing by his place and try it, but I may look to swap it for something else.

This year's batch is pretty good. Just came to NYC about two weeks ago....
How's that 11 year Willet from Grand Cru? I've got a bottle of it that I've yet to open.
I do believe that WLW had the lowest bottle count this year.

Rathskeller is a rye that was bottled for the Seelbach hotel in Louisville and was distilled in the 80's. It's pretty hard to come by, but I've seen it at some really good bourbon bars. My wife has never had a pour, so I figured that it would be something she would enjoy.

Additional Info regarding Rathskeller
Anyone know if the Bourbon House happens to have a bottle of Rathskeller?

Haha you sho did. EHT tornado is amazing.. I wish I had a bottle.

I'm actually quite excited to try this at the Avenue. I haven't seen a bottle at a bar in a long time, so I'm looking forward to it.

Separately, I just looked at their website, and the Avenue is having a really nice beer event beginning at 5pm on 12/31. They are tapping a keg of Fou Foune, which is one of my favorite Cantillon lambics, so I'm looking forward to getting started early on NYE.

$500 too much for pappy 23? $300 for a 20? TIA

23 goes for $1200-$1300 while the 20 goes for $900 or so...

If you decide not to take them, I will. LOL

BTW - I strongly prefer the 20 to the 23.

Cheers and enjoy

Wow - nice finds. Pappy got released in NY this week. Several stores that I spoke with wanted 2K per bottle, which is substantially higher than secondary market prices. Due to label approval, we still don't have BTAC stuff yet....

With prices what they are, I would think there would be some counterfeiting..

I'm sure there is a bit of counterfeiting. I mean, look at how many ads are on craigslist and the asking price of each bottle LINK

Avenue Pub is your spot as Jack & others echoed...

If you're staying off Canal St (Sheraton, Marriott) or don't mind walking, you could actually take the streetcar (we don't call it a trolley and neither should you), if you want a cab it's probably only $10 bucks or so.

Take the St Charles line (green) and not the Canal line toward Uptown/Carrolton down to A-Pub. Can get off at Euterpe or Felicity and walk a block to the pub.

The upstairs area (where all the good stuff is) opens at 5pm Sun-Thurs and at 1pm Fri-Sat.

There's a ton of great beer but the bourbon display is pretty outrageous.

You might be able to do a Pappy flight if available (prob $65 for 15-20-23) or a Four Roses Small Batch flight ('12-'13-'14)...but there's plenty of truly great juice regardless.

Enjoy the trip...if I see any Buckeyes there in the next few weeks I'll buy a round for y'all....Buck Fama!

ETA: LPD is a 12/107

Thanks very much for this helpful information. I'll definitely be at the lounge area of the avenue pub quite a bit, so say hello if you are around. My wife and I love craft beer as well, so we will have tough choices, but the bourbon selection is quite outstanding. I'm amazed to look at the prices too.... Our local NYC spot charges so much more for crappy pours that it's unbelievable (LINK

We will be arriving on the 29th, so we will be town to catch you guys smash ND. Cheers!

Whiskey/Bourbon/Scotch appreciation thread
Avenue pub (upstairs bar)

Excellent bourbon and beer selection

If you want to stay in the FQ, bourbon house has all of their PVW/BTAC now. FYI, Be careful when ordering at bourbon house.. On two separate occasions, I've ordered WLW from the waitress and was handed weller reserve.. I now go to the bar and watch it being poured.

Thanks very much - the avenue looks great and appears to be fairly well priced. Most of what I will drink is available on the balcony only. Are those seats hard to get? Can I walk to this place from the French Quarter? We are going to be around from Monday through Friday, so I'll probably hit the Avenue up a couple of times...

Thanks again Uncle JackD....
Hey All -
So, sorry if this has been mentioned somewhere in the thread, but I'll be in NO in the coming weeks for the Sugar Bowl. I'd appreciate suggestions on bars/stores I should hit up for good bourbon.
Cheers and thanks
