Well if you ever change your mind on the JPS let me know. I'll give you at least $25 for it if you ever get hard up for cash.

I am a huge fan of everything that Glenfiddich makes. Can you tell

The 21 was delicious. It is a rare treat for me. Layers of flavors in the finish with the typical glenfiddich oakyness.

The Bourbon Cask Finished (the blue one) is the best (well except for the 30 which I drink only on my birthday). It is a bit sweeter from the bourbon plus I am a fan of bourbon and scotch so some of each is good for me.

When just starting out in Scotch, go horizontal rather than vertical.

Meaning, try lots of 14-18 year old scotches before getting to excited about 18+. The taste difference between each manufacturer will be far more interesting than the taste difference between 18yo glenfiddich and 21 yo.

Good luck and if you have any questions let me know.

Yea thats why I passed on the glen 21...the 15 and 18 were good but not hugely different. The last 2 I got are pretty different...one im still unsure of I will need more test lol. Tomatin 12 Oloroso sherry cask finish (good stuff) and Lagavulin 16 Islay...that one is the one im unsure of....its really different lol

Agreed. All the islay's are really peaty. I'm not a huge fan either but I'm working on it.

Try some Aberlour. Good mix of taste and value.

Also, the jump from 12 to 15 is huge!! I haven't found too many 12s that I like but most 15s are good.

Enjoy the journey.

I would get the Glen 15 over the 12...not becasue I didnt like the 12 but I think the 15 is much better for a little more $.

Glen 15 is my overall winner for value vs. taste. Obviously there are better tasting scotches and cheaper scotches, but glen 15 hits the sweetspot on both.

I know I only have like 5 posts but batch 3 and 4 of Stagg Jr. Are pretty frickin good. Never had batch 1 or 2 though. I had an EHTBP a few years ago that was great, proof in the 130's, but the last few bottles I had, proof 129, good but not great. I guess what I am saying is batch 3/4 Stagg Jr. > latest EHTBP.

Went to my local watering hole for pours 2 and 3 (Jefferson 18 and Elmer). Back at home now making some pulled pork tacos and getting into the 2014 bookers roundtable
