Single Barrel Project is a Facebook group that started early this year for the purpose of pooling resources and buying select barrels of Bourbon. They just recently converted from a free membership of 700 to a pay membership of only 75 top tier members, called stakeholders. The 75 spots sold out in a few hours and some of the charter members were left off the list. You can buy a "supporting membership" for half the price and fewer benefits, but that wasnt good enough for alot of people. The membership drive was discussed for weeks and a email was sent out warning of the sale happening on Sunday night, but some supposedly die hard members missed it. There was an ensuing whine fest about the situation with lots of argument. The whole discussion thread has been removed.

Does anyone have the Belmont Stakes Knob Creek that I can buy from them? Wanted to check locally before trying to get it online.

I want to say I saw some at Whole Foods, but that may have been when I was in Seattle.
Side not, what are the benefits of being a stakeholder in that Single Barrel Project?

Belmont Stakes Knob Creek
I think I saw it in Ville Platte this weekend at Champagnes. Don't hold me to that, just remember seeing a Knob that had a picture label.
Still doing some vatting, got a Jefferson VSB as a gift, and just dont really care for it alone. Was thinking of blending it with something a little sweeter. Anyone have any thoughts, ideas? A buddy has a bottle too and wants to do the same so were thinking well each make something different and see what comes out. He is leaning towards a rye.

Have you checked at Churchill's?

That could be interesting. The Jeffersons Chef Collab is a blend of Rye and Bourbon which makes it suprisingly delicious. I love sipping on that bc its a great mix of sweet and spice. If you want to go sweeter than Jeffersons than maybe try a wheater? Makers 46 or Weller perhaps?

No I haven't yet, will try and run over there today and see. Good idea, I always forget about them. Thanks.

That is what I told him, I really enjoyed the Collaboration. He has an AE Rye he is thinking of using, I havent tried it, but the regular AE is very sweet to me. I told him make a glass and see before wasting too much. I was thinking about Makers or 46 to mix mine with.

The AE Rye is an excellent rye but I probably wouldn't use that as a blender. A. In case it turns out bad you don't want to waste such an excellent pour. B. It's such a unique rye that's finished in rum casks, it already stands for itself. Who knows what would happen to it if you blend it with a bourbon.
I would personally go for just a regular rye, not finished in anything. Like bulleit rye or a Willet 2 year or even Michters. Those are all solid ryes that would probably yield better in a blend. They would definitely taste more like the Chefs Collab than using the AE Rye.
And I don't think you could go wrong with the Makers for your bourbon blend, especially the 46.

I was thinking the bulleit, would be a good one to try. Will pass it along, appreciate your insight.

How is it over ice? I've had it neat twice and the second pour was much better than the first. I left the bottle alone for a week before the 2nd but am definitely going to put it over ice next time.
