What yall know about pinhook bourbon? Got offered a bottle today but passed

It's fair. Maybe slightly above average.

I would certainly take it if someone gave it to me, but I wouldn't search it out.

I may be alone on this but I don't really give a damn where the juice is produced if its good. Some people here talk down on LDI, is it aimed at LDI for the mass production or at the companies that bottle it and are deceptive about the source of it? Cause let's be honest, its because of LDI that we are able to see such a selection and enjoy the Smooth Amblers of the world.

That's the hypocrisy of the bourbon/rye world, $30-50 bottle made at LDI "garbage", Willett Family Estate also made at LDI everyone will go nuts over it and overpay. (Note, I'm not saying the Willetts aren't good, I'm saying that the asking price point should be lower.)

The truth is that there would be much fewer bottles on the shelves without them and thus more competition amongst buyers.

Exactly, I think they should be praised and not ridiculed. If your gonna get mad channel it towards the company bottling it and not being transparent about where it came from

I dont talk down on LDI. I talk down on the dishonest practices of all these "craft distillers". Which is why i dont drink NDP juice.

Edit: Bonus, this guy keeps a list of labels in violation of:

Section 5.36(d) "the State of distillation shall be shown on the label of any whisky produced in the United States if the whisky is not distilled in the State given in the address on the brand label."

Just swang by the cool dude emporium for some mint simple syrup (which they were out of). They have about 6 bottles of Angels Envy Rye on shelf for $80 and some pinhook if anyone is interested. I asked if they had any Elijah Craig Barrel Proof to which I was told, "yes and no. Yes we have some in the back but no because it's there until the boss finds someone he deems to have a suitable amount of money. Most limited stuff stays in the back until Christmas time when it can command a higher price" haha this is straight from an employee. Couldn't believe me ears haha
