New Poster here...
Can someone in the New Orleans area suggest a few liquor stores in the area that have good selections? I've been lurking here for a couple of years, and y'all seem to be able to find Weller 12 pretty easily. Thanks in advance.

Martins has a good selection. So does Dorignacs but their prices are fairly rapey. You aren't going to find Weller 12 though. When you see guys drinking it regularly, they probably just stashed away a few bottles a while back.

Dude is right...W12 won't be found anywhere soon I fear. Be sure to hunt around stores when you're out of town and maybe there will be a loose bottle somewhere. All my finds are from at least a year and a half ago.

Dorignac's selection is best, prices aren't. New Martin's on Baronne is really nice too.

Take a trip across the lake and hit Acquistapace's when you get a free afternoon...lots of barrel picks there, which drink above their price point.

I'm a lurker as well. Should I check out anywhere besides Bin-Q? I'm at LSU and live on that end, but I work near Highland/Airline, so any places on that end of town would be appreciated.

Here's a question for the group:

What happened to Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch to make it so much less desired? The 2012 won whiskey of the year, and now bottles fetch $800 or so. The 2013 (4R125) won similar honors and goes for around $450.

After that they're basically selling slightly above cost - I've seen 2014, 2015 and 2016's for around $175.

I know the 2015 was Jim Rutledge's last, but why the huge drop off? Is it just a perception thing? Are the whiskies that much worse?

I got W12 last sept-oct at dorignacs, purely because I happened to stop by the day it was delivered. Guy told me they got about a case once per year and that was the day. Oh, and they were charging like 50+ for it.

Otherwise you are right, that's literally the only time I've ever seen it in this city.
