I have a bottle of Blanton's but I haven't opened it yet, waiting on a special occasion.
How about.... It's Wednesday! Crack that sucker open and celebrate.

Good evening, this is Dr Beardface, you rang? (Unfortunately the real pager has been going off way too much...) I'm at work tonight so I can't go too in depth now, but I'll post the links to the review threads I've done. Jefferson vs. Pappy Jefferson Presidential Select, Pappy Van Winkle 15 year, Pappy Van Winkle 20 year, George T Stagg Bourbon and Bread Pudding Tasting Maker's 46, Jefferson's Reserve, Eagle Rare 10 year, Rock Hill Farms, Blanton's, Russel's 10 year, Black Maple Hill, and Woodford Reserve Christmas Presents Black Maple Hill, Old Smoky Apple Pie Moonshine, Elmer T Lee and Elijah Craig 18 year 4 Roses Single Barrel I'm sure I've talked about others in other threads but those are the highlights. Good luck in your bourbon conquest
AWESOME! This is what im talking about.
I have had rare bread, but didnt think it was a top 5 bourbon.
On the crown in highschool, yes we did drink it (special occasions). Mainly we drank beer or whatever we could get our hands on at the time.

If you can find it get some George Dickel Barrell Select, really smooth.
This will be my first purchase. Anyone in BR know where to get it??
Next is the black maple hill MR Beardface was promoting.

Bookers vs. Blantons- these are fairly close in price I believe. If you were going to buy one, who you got?
If you've never had Blanton's, get it...and you can try the Booker's at your favorite watering hole...
If you've had Blanton's before...buy it again, and try Booker's at your favorite watering hole...
Bottom line: once you have both, you'll know which one you like better...most people I know prefer Blanton's.
Also, it seems like Blanton's is much pricier at bars than Booker's (maybe just for the name), so you get more bang for your buck by getting Blanton's at your liquor store and Booker's at the bar...

It's Dr Beardface. I didn't go through four years of bearded medical school to be called mister.
Hope you enjoy the bourbon journey. You may want to try the Black Maple Hill at a bar before buying a whole bottle. I'm a big fan of it, but some people aren't into the corny twang of it.

Another vote for blanton's here. It is delicious and well worth the price.

Well i just grew a beard and have completely coasted thru my undergrad. Do the mystical properties of the beard help advance intellectual thought.... and my bourbon pallet?
Also - what do you mean "corny" taste with black maple hill?

I like Bookers, Buffalo Trace, and many others.

You can buy it online. My buddy just bought a bottle of the 15.

What does this even mean?
So up next is black maple hill, buffalo trace, blantons, and 4 roses. Not in that order.
Per the recommendation of DR! Beardface i will try black maple hill in the bar... if they have it.

Try Makers 46. It's a great buy for the $$ and is very smooth.

When I was in high school we discovered Tiger Tom bourbon. 95 cents for a half pint.

Bought 2 bottles of Jefferson 18 yo Presidential Select and a bottle of 20 yo PVW this afternoon. Happy early birthday to me!
Jefferson's came from the Roux Bar in Prairievile (thanks to F&D board tip), and the PVW believe it or not, from a gas station right down Airline from there. The Grove. As good a selection of premium liquor as any place in BR. Gold mine!
