Food is obviously good at both, but it had a much better space and feel to it. NOLA has a good feel to it, I just wasn't much on their food.

Emeril's has plenty of other desserts that are great. I'm not big on the banana pie either because I don't love bananas. It's very good and banana lovers love it.

Boss, I don't find Delmonico stuffy at all. I've loved my meals there and the brunch meals he does at Easter or maybe on other holidays is so worth it.

Emeril's. I did the Summer tasting menu last year, and it was a great value. I'm doing it again Friday night.

Get the banana cream pie.

TLDR: Ok experience, may or may not be back. Not exactly overwhelmed.

As promised I am reporting back. First of all the 12 year old loved the experience. I was sort of bummed about it. It didn't meet up to my expectations. I have had far better meals and overall experiences in other places.

Appetizers: Calamari and BBQ shrimp

Drinks: Red wine for the wife, Whiskey on the rocks (2) for me.

Me< Ancho rubbed strip
12 year old< Ancho rubbed strip
15 year old< Whole broiled flounder
Wife< Swordfish.

Desserts: Banana Crème Pie, Upside down bourbon pecan cake and Chocolate soufflé.

Pro's: Service was fantastic, the pacing of dinner was good, banana crème pie and soufflé were very good. The calamari with the olive mix was a neat twist and a pleasant surprise. Snapper was outstanding and the swordfish just met expectations at the minimum level and didn't really overwhelm.

Con's: BBQ Shrimp was overcooked. Strip was disappointing and was not typical of what I expect in a strip. The ancho flavor was fine, the steak was of poor quality. I just know I have had far better strips in the backyard. The upside down cake was ok.

Sorry for your experience. I'm a creature of habit there and always have andouille crusted fish. It's so good. The only thing I've had that you ordered is the bbq shrimp app and they've never been overcooked.

Our selections may have played a part in the experience. The snapper was an off-menu special. With such a small menu I am surprised that none of our dishes were the same. Not saying I wouldn't go back but may try a different place next round. I appreciate all you do on this Board...long time lurker.

Hope you join in more often.

I don't know because I don't order a lot of different items there and I rarely order steak out unless at a steak restaurant. Emeril's is an excellent restaurant and I would expect all the dishes to be prepared well. That doesn't mean I'm going to like every dish. Some dishes just aren't my favorites regardless of the restaurant or sometimes, the dish just isn't what you expect and, while good, is disappointing.

Maybe try one of his other restaurants next time for variety.

As long as your child enjoyed the experience, you're a winner, though, since that was the point!
