Jambo I've only been twice and I just remember the soups and fish being great.
I can't imagine anything would be less than outstanding. Frank runs a great restaurant

Any good business is going to want to close for a few days a year to do a deep cleaning, let everyone take some time off, fix things, etc.
It makes sense for them to choose the time where there is the smallest hit to profits
If there was money to be made you can bet they would be open.

Thousands of people come in town for a festival, why close ? Prince played this fest, it's not some bullshite seafood or BBQ fest.

A lot of street food is available too. Smells great in the CBD right nkw with everything being cooked.
Would be interested to know how restaurants in the FQ does during FQF compared to normal. Sort of the same deal.

I have the same interest. People will say whatever about customers themselves (no experience here, so none of my own opinions), but I don't understand how Essence leads to lower restaurant "profits" compared, say, week after Essence Fest. Maybe tips and table revenue per table is down but it seems like there would volume to bump up the gross and net compared to a slow mid/late July day before Coolinary hits in August. I can believe this weekend might be slowest in profit percentages, but the volume must mean something...

Bacchanal closed on Sunday due to an electrical issue (blown fuse box). I was there when it happened, so its completely unrelated to Essence. They should be re=opened on Mon and they were open evrey other day. Some of the crap that people claim is Essence related....sheesh.
