I don't know if they serve dinner but La Tiendita needs to needs to be given consideration. True Mexican vs Tex-Mex cuisine, and the prices are more than fair.

Went there this Saturday for an early dinner before a movie. A little over $20 for the two of us and it's always great food.

Coyote Blues makes flour tortillas daily, from scratch, on site.

This place is pretty solid for authentic Mexican food.

The beef tongue (lengua) tacos at Taqueria El Limon on Jones Creek are really tasty.

I believe Ninfas to be the best mexican (tex mex) in town personally. I'm personally offended by how terrible mexican food in Louisiana is in general. How can a culture care so much for great flavor and then champion a place like La Carreta?

Can't believe all the love Coyote Blues is getting. The Lafayette location is good. But nothing special. I've never been to the BR location for that reason. I guess I'll need to check it out

Coyote Blues is the correct answer. Not really a great selection.

Will never go to Ninfa's again.

One of the biggest Cockroach I've ever seen in my life, fell on my head from the stupid things hanging from the ceiling. Haven't been back since.

Last time I was there they had removed all hanging things. It seems to be a shame what has happened to that place. Back in the day anytime Mexican was mentioned it was the only answer.

ETA: Drive to Lafayette and eat at La Pagua.

Lava Cantina sucks.

We're partial to Superior Grill and Ninfa's. Coyote Blues is OK, but I used to eat there a lot for a previous job. Whenever it was someone's birthday or a going away, we would head there.

Mestizo's is good, but we've had bad experiences with fellow diners. We were there a few years ago and some bitch was droning on loudly about politics and dropping names of the truly awful human beings she had worked for. I wanted to scream at her "These are people who are making America a worse place!" Then my wife met her dad there for dinner a week or so ago and some kid was going buck wild -- banging plates together for 20 minutes -- while his parents just stuffed their fat faces.

I would recommend the Superior Platter.
