Shrimp is the best
Roast beef is second. Harry's in Larose has a killa one!

And I agree about french fry poboys.. pretty big waste of money and calories.

it's the original po-boy baw.

and it's not a waste of money, I can get a whole potato poboy dressed for $4.50 at Arabi Foodstore.

They also make amazing Roast Beef poboys too.

Parkway Surf & Turf = overrated

You say Parkway surf and turf is overrated, yet you nominate a Chime's poboy as a great poboy

Archetypal does not necessarily mean better.

If I'm out that way I'm hitting up Zimmer's. Oyster poboy and a pint of marinated crab salad

Surf and Turf from Parkway is the Holy Grail. The GOAT. The ultimate measuring stick for any sandwich calling itself "superior". There is no equal, just many imitators.

I went in with high expectations and was very underwhelmed. The roast beef just isn't that good. With Darrell's special being at the top of my list as a tier one, I'd say the surf and turf is tier three. JMO.

very very good poboy.

I am of the thinking that you have seafood poboys and non-seafood poboys.

My favorite non-seafood poboy is the Potato Po-Boy from Arabi Foodstore, my favorite seafood poboy is the Oyster Poboy from R & O's

Half shrimps half oyster....mixed not half and half.....there is a name for that that escapes me. I usually have to mix it myself after they bring the half n jalf.

Same here Tiger. Grew up about 2 miles from Harry's.

My shrimp at parkway had a slight iodine taste. Kills everything!

For fried seafood poboy my rankings are :

Crawfish
Shrimp
Speckle trout
Gator
Catfish
Oyster (I'm not a huge oyster eater though)

For non-fried:
Roast beef
Baked ham

My favorite poboy is a sautéed butterflied jumbo shrimp (peeled from fresh shrimp) with a little bit of bacon thrown in. Bread has to be toasted also.

Sort of like this one

So the people at Mahony's are rednecks? OK.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. Let me preface by letting you know that I don't care for The Chimes. At all. That poboy was the one truly legit item on their menu, but they ditched it.

I agree 100%

Another good one I forgot to mention is the fried bacon-wrapped shrimp poboy at Griffins in Houma
