I remember as a kid, bugs were dirt cheap one year and my Dad and my friend's dad bought 16 sacks (all that would fit in the back of an s-10) and we boiled and pealed till all the skin was gone from our fingers. I think they were bought for $10 a sack...

How much did you pay at harvest?

2.19 at the OB boil a few weeks ago.

Wife reserved these at harvest for this weekend and she didn't even ask how much.

I know guys like to give crawfishermen a hard time. Someone once said, if you're gonna sell them for a high price, just come out and say it; don't make an excuse. However if you do that, then the same people keep asking "why" until you give them a reason. And simply, prices are where they are because people will pay it.

Got 3 sacks today reserved in Baton Rouge for Friday.

2.99/lb though. Good luck getting a cheaper price. My regular guy was having to cancel the reservations from two weeks ago due to low catch.

Feel LUCKY! 3.19/lb is what I'm getting everyplace I call....and they don't have them at that...I may have to resort to eating a cow...I'd happily pay 2.99/lb today! Oh Well...Se La Vi... Failure to prepare on my part cost me...Maybe one of the folks I called will call me....we shall see....

I remember paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $0.29/lb for live and $0.69/lb boiled when I was a young whippersnapper.

for a little while and early in the season..
People arent gonna continue to pay high dollar prices for live crawfish.... esp after lent.
Prices will drop.. as they become more plentiful you'll see them go way down.

If you are boiling a sack, sure its 100 bucks, not that big deal.. but you start boiling for a decent sized group (20+ people)... 2.5-3$ adds up real quick.
Not to mention all the extra shite you gotta buy to go along with it.
