I know I am late to the party but was maybe hoping to pickup a little bag or two to make blackened gator

Try Tommy's in Pville or Tony's if you're on the other side.

Any of the local grocers should have it. I got some from Matherne's last time UF was in town.

Chris's specialty meats would be a good bet. Tramonte's as well.

Tony's seafood usually has it in stock.

Which method do y'all use for frying gator?

I agree that Matherne's usually has it, at least during LSU/Florida week. It's in their ad for this week, but you might want to call to be sure.

If you can't find any, make some chicken. Most say it tastes just like gator.

I like to throw it in the trash and eat something that isn't nasty. After cleaning, trimming, and frying about a hundred pounds of that shite one day, I will never eat it again unless it is to be polite.

I run it through my kitchen-aide mascerator until it comes out the texture of cube steak. Then in a seasoned flour (cayenne granulated garlic, salt, black pepper) dredge. Into a milk / egg bath then back into the seaoned flour then into the grease. Same way i fry my chicken. And in the interest of full disclosure the only time I cook that shite is when I have Yankee friends come down who "have to have some Gator".

See if you can contact Philips seafood in bayou pigeon...go directly to the source. Pick up some alligator ribs while you're at it. I use a pork style dry rub after marinating then overnight with a little apple cider vinegar and finish them in the oven.

Look for the orange sleeveless T-shirt, jorts and shoot one yourself. But I understand they are hard to clean.

Heads And Tails (kind of across from Baton Rouge Clinic) usually has some. I would call first.
