Base pizza is 16 bucks. Toppings are $3 each.

They have a nice beer selection. Some of the draft and bottle selections are 8-10 dollars.

Not very hard to believe.

Tortugas is the pizza place you want to go to if out at the Met. It's right down the street and some of the best pizza in town. Again, its Chicago style and made to order so make sure you leave yourself plenty of time (30-45 mins).

So he had six ten dollar beers and a pizza with literally every topping they have and it still isn't 120 bucks.

Very good stuff. I also like donatos over in Vestavia for thin crust.

I almost mentioned this. I would also recommend the Bright Star if you head to Bessemer.

What do you think of Full Moon BBQ?

I know not directed at me but I'm partial to Full Moon since my brother is a regional manager.

Consistently good food. Go to the one on 280, ask for the guy from Louisiana and if he is there, tell him his brother told you to go up there on TD. He might hook you up with some grub.

Full Moon is pretty good. There's one on HWY 31 in Hoover not far from the Met. Another local chain.

The OP could try all the local BBQ chains as they are right there in Hoover: Golden Rule, Full Moon, and Jim n Nicks.

Hoover is all chains, all the time. Downtown, 5 Points, Southside, etc. are a bit better. If you want BBQ, try Saw's. It is OK, but I have still not found a go-to BBQ place that can beat what I do at home. Any place that puts dill pickles on a pulled pork sandwich should be burned to the ground. And they all seem to do it here.

Tortuga's has good Chicago style pizza. The Boot is close to The Met, and we went there a good bit in the past. Interesting atmosphere and definitely off the beaten path in The Preserve. Nice bar, good beer selection. Nino's Pizza in Pelham is a few miles away and is usually pretty decent, or Salvatore's in Hoover. For Mexican, Iguana Grill in Hoover is pretty good. Get the Molcajete.

If you want fine dining, Highlands Grill, Hot & Hot Fish club and Botega should all be solid bets, depending on what kinds of food you want.

Next time, try Ms Myra's in Cahaba Heights. The smoked chicken and white sauce is the best I've ever had anywhere.

Thanks for the heads up on the Preserve. All that was built well after I left Hoover for Vestavia.

I live very close to Miss Myra's. Good, but I prefer the chicken and white sauce from Saw's.

Prefer them both to Jim and Nicks and Dremalands. I've still yet to try Full Moon.

Really? I'm just the opposite. I like Saw's soul bowl, wings, and fried chicken sandwich. Ms Myra's chicken and pies are ridiculous. There was another LSU poster that moved over to Cahaba Heights. Can't remember his name.

Which Saws? I'm talking about the one in Homewood. I've been to the one in Avondale once and had a fried shrimp sandwich (co-worker highly recommended, but it was 'meh'.)

Never been to the Juke Joint. The Homewood Saws has excellent BBQ. Better ribs than the other places I've tried. Jim and Nick's does have great mac and cheese and those cheese biscuits are great too.
