Subject says it all. A few buddies and I are planning to do a boil this spring in Memphis, and we figured we'd spend a night or two in New Orleans and bring up mudbugs from the source. What are some places around New Orleans that y'all have been pleased with?

The source would actually be west of Baton Rouge. Breaux Bridge, Lafayette and surrounding areas.

Thanks. I figured I could, but wanted to see if some places were better than others.

Download the crawfish app and you’ll be able to check the prices of the places closest to you.

Castnet Seafood is the best. They bust all of the sacks open, then they walk them (pick out all of the dead ones and the trash) and wash them, and then put them in a new sack ... however many pounds you want, up to 40 pounds per sack.

It's not the usual stuff where you pick out a sack that came from the supplier, and see what you get when you finally open it at home, and then still have to prep them. You can go directly from the sack to the pot with live crawfish from Castnet.

Schaefer in Bucktown
Zimmer’s in Gentilly
Bevi in Mid-City

I live in the middle of those 3. I call all 3 to get the price per pound, and I get them from whoever is the cheapest that day. All 3 are solid.
