Making a cheese board for a dinner party this week…first stop will be Aldi. Lots of choices as well as the crackers and nuts I need.

Cookie selection is good. Chocolate brioche heated in the microwave a few seconds is good

I get the seasonal Mediterranean chicken burgers in the summer…great lunch when browned in a skillet.

Frozen vegetables are a good price and are fine.

They have some interesting frozen entree items but may never see them again after finding that out.

Tried the store brand vanilla bean ice cream and am sold.

I have not bought meat there because I am really picky, but have heard good things.

Produce is hit or miss. Fresh Brussel sprouts are good value and good quality. Cucumbers go bad immediately.

just had dinner with my mom, she is the queen of the cheese board. She gets her cheese at Aldi. If my mother says the cheese is good there, then the cheese is good there

Are you my kid? Lol

It really is the best selection around, and I have never run across any truly bad options. They know they are Charcuterie Central and stock a lot of “accessories” like hot honey, preserves, chocolate, etc.

It’s pretty much the only play we shop now.

The only coffee I drink at this point is the organic extra bold from there.

Twin pack grass fed ribeyes for $15

Thin sliced ribeye is great for family weekday tacos.

Peanut butter protein bars have 4 ingredients. My kids eat those for breakfast and tear them up.

Italian loaf bread. Three ingredients and costs less than a normal loaf.

Their extra virgin olive oil is rebranded from a prominent producer in Italy.

Uncured bacon is half the price as any other grocery store here.

Milk and pasture raised eggs are much cheaper than other stores here.

Cheese and meat selection for charcuterie board is great.

The French Baguette 1.99
Best I've ever tasted from a grocery store. I like to create dinner's of nothing but appetizers so I go through 5-6 of these per week.

I've only been in there a couple of times, but it seems like they price some of their meat based on the sell by date. Same meat with a sell by date of Monday is cheaper per pound than one that has Tuesday's date. Seems like it would be a good place to go to buy something to cook today instead of buying something on Wednesday to cook for the weekend.

I did pick up a 3 pound pre-seasoned brisket that I cooked in the smoker last weekend. It turned out great.

The real Swiss and German chocolate bars are worth a visit.

Live 2hrs from the closest Aldi and everytime we get near one I stock up on them.

Aldi is fine. It’s part of my weekly routine. Pastry/Chips are really cheap. Milk and eggs are generally cheaper than Kroger or HEB but not enough to make the extra trip. Dry spices are cheaper there. Worth a trip. Don’t forget your quarter or a bag for your stuff.

The ones around here have 1/2 fresh pork loins for $1.79/lb. I buy them and cut thick boneless pork chops. They will also have racks of St. Louis ribs for $2.49/ lb, but the ribs are not there every week, the pork loins are a regular item.

Rotating items in the floor freezer chests are usually pretty good. Especially the frozen pizzas and flatbreads. Picked up a Gino’s East deep dish from there once. The vertical freezers and fridges seem to be where they keep items you will find all the time. The exception being fresh meat, which at times looks like a bomb hit it, especially the beef section.

I don’t drink any soda, so I buy a ton of their lemon sparkling water. Chocolate, cheese, charcuterie all very good as previously mentioned.

Their pork and chicken seem fine. I have had some good beef and some that was grisly from there. Some of the pre-seasoned stuff like the Birria chuck roasts and the Seasoned Tri-tip are choice grade and very cheap per pound ($5.99) right now.
