This is objectively unsupportable.

Serious question ... how ya'll boil shrimp and crabs?

Ya'll sprinkle them and shake the ice chest for those too?

I've had good crawfish that were seasoned in ice chest

There's more to it than getting seasoning on your fingers

I've been to plenty of boils in BR or Nola where the crawfish got to cool while they were soaking.

because it takes way less seasoning to season the actual crawfish after they come out of the pot than to season 15 gallons of water

But you have to season the water.

Its the basis of a "crawfish boil".

You aren't boiling crawfish if you don't season the water…..

In the sprinkle method, is the water not seasoned at all?

Do you just boil the crawfish in plain water and only add seasoning in the ice chest after they are out of the pot?

Speaking of, some are boiling in plain water then have a cooler pot of seasoned water for the soak.

I'm not bashing the method but its crazy to me to boil crawfish in non seasoned water. That is what boiling crawfish is.

If you don't season the water you are just heating up crawfish in hot water. How can the heads get juicy and seasoned? How could the meat be seasoned thoroughly throughout the crawfish?

Whether you sprinkle them after in the ice chest or not you HAVE to have seasoned water to boil crawfish IMO.

No offense intended, but have you ever been to a boil outside your backyard...or town....or parish?

I can't get your thinking here. The word, boil, refers to the water and has nothing really to do with seasoning.

Why ask how?

Well, that just makes no sense in an English words have meaning context.

Yes it is, Mr. Balls. It is the stupidest thread of the year...every year. For the record, I am convinced that a decent cook can produce excellent crawfish through several different cooking methods. I will depart this insanity to go frick with people the rest of the day.

One of my BILs is so fascinated with cooling that he turns my backyard into a swampy mess with every boil. He insists on standing there with a running hose on the pot until no one can even walk near the boiler.

There is no need to season the water with the sprinkle method. In fact, it's a waste of seasoning if you do.

Start a new thread if you want to talk about boiling crabs or shrimp or lobster or prawn or whatever other irrelevant seafood you want to throw in there.
