I'm hearing good things...Seems like City Grocery was the first, and he has added a few others. The web site is pretty cool...I just would like to know if anyone has experienced his food first hand. Thanks.

I went there about 3 years ago and it was very good. It is certainly the best place in Oxford - probably in all of MS. I would put it up with some of the good 2nd tier New Orleans places.

We ate at City Grocery for dinner two years ago when we went up there for the Ole Miss/LSU game. Let me tell you this, City Grocery can hold its own with any restaurant in New Orleans. It is legit.
There is also another restaurant, called Ajax Diner you must try too. Reminded me of Sunday lunch at my grandma's house! Serious down home cooking going on.

City Grocery is off the charts. Ajax is really good but I think it gets to much credit. Its a good "home cooked" style meal though.

City grocery is good as hell. I can't compare it to anything else in Oxford or Mississippi as is it was really the only place I went when I was there but it would hold it's own in Nola, atl etc

The reason I ask is that the word on the New Orleans restaurant street is that Currences food will be in the new Mannings Eat, Drink, Cheer restaurant on Fulton St. Harrahs is building the facility, Archie and Family will be the face, Currence is the Food guy, and they'll hire an executive chef to run the culinary ops. Should be an awesome addition to the city...I'm looking forward to the menu.

Archie's hanging on to his last shred of relevance in NOLA I see ..

Sounds like way too much ancillary stuff going on ("Archie and Family will be the face, Currence is the Food guy, and they'll hire an executive chef to run the culinary ops.") to actually get a solid coherent dining establishment.
We shall see, I suppose.
