Landry Stakes (Texas)
Amrut Fusion (India)
Hibike Harmony (Japan)

He probably hasn't had any of those and they are all excellent.

I'll give you a few choices that are readily available, buy at any liquor store type of recommendations that won't cost you gobs of money...

1. Old Forester 1910 or 1920
2. Wild Turkey Rare Breed
3. Four Roses small batch select
4. Woodford Reserve Double Oaked

I like Knob Creek single barrel for bourbon whiskey and Johnny Walker black label for scotch. Those are about as much as I'll splurge for myself or anyone else.
If they're too snobby for those get some shite called Fighting Cock and watch em turn green. That shite is NASTY!

Do reviews for a good liquor store in your area.

Go in ask the people if they have what is referred to as a store pick.

If they have different bottles of store picks, ask for their recommendation.

you can find some old Bird Dog in their old bottles. They quit making them, but some liquor stores still have a few. They were tall and skinny.

Bird Dog still makes a tall skinny bottle.

They do. Unless they stopped in the last week.

Edit. The only reason I say that is because I saw them putting some on the shelf of my local ABC store the other day. But Alabama does tend to hold bottles in the warehouse. That very well could have been old stock.

Barrell Bourbon has great bourbons.

That would be my suggestion. All their stuff is excellent.

Not a big whiskey person but I was gifted a bottle of Rowan's Creek and I liked it a lot. Not sure how it stacks up in the pantheon but it's around $50.
