I am going to have to go with amber Bock. Iced cold in a tall glass there is nothing like it.

Really narrowed that one down aye? Off the top of my head I'd say, Yeti Imp Stout or Nola Irish Channel Stout. Still alot that I'm leaving off though. Arrogant Bastard is a good one that is widely available.

I just moved to new orleans, but I haven't had luck in LA (just moved from BR). I usually buy the lager bc it is one of my favorites as well. Last time I had the dark was at church-key in DC in march. I wish I could find it here

Bell's Special Double Cream Stout

next would be
Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout,
Young's Double Chocolate Stout,
New Glarus Coffee Stout.

Someone might be able to trump these, but it's a formidable list nonetheless. And let's not forget the good old fashioned Guinness.

"dark" beer is such a broad topic....you have porters, many types of stouts, belgian dark ales, brown ales, even IPA's just to name a few.

dont really have one favorite but some of the darker brews i really enjoy:
-St Bernardus Abt 12 and Pater 6
-Old Rasputin and Lazy Magnolia Jefferson Stout
-Cigar City Maduro Brown ale and NOLA brown
-Stone 15th anniv. Black IPA

In no particular order:

Dogfish Head Bitches Brew (Imperial Stout)
Guiness
Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout
Sam Smith Nut Brown Ale
Newcastle Nut Brown Ale
Young's Double Chocolate
Maredsous #8

I can't go wrong with any of those.

It is a pale ale, after all, but I guess if you mostly drink BMC it could be considered a dark beer.

You have to define what a "dark beer" is before you can say what it's not. People are throwing out Newcastle, Abita Amber, SS Nut Brown Ale, etc. so it's not that far off.

To me it's a beer that is almost black in color and nearly opaque.
