What is it about whichever restaurant opens at Perkins and Staring?

Thay new sushi place might have been open 4 months and is closed...restaurant of similar nature before it closed with quickness. Before that it was a seafood place with an average brunch.

Why cannot that location work? 3-4 in a row have failed.

What year did it close? I vaguely remember eating there once. I moved to Baton Rouge on Bluebonnet in 01 but spent some time there in the summer for basketball camp from 98-00.

I’m wondering if someone on this board can list all of the restaurants in that space since Calendars closed. Off the top of my head I know Ahuua’s, Lasseigne’s and one other Mexican restaurant that I can’t recall at this moment.

Perhaps Perkins and Essen would be a better location.

It's also been a poke place then most recently the sushi place.

ETA: It also was a brief stint under Frankie Marcellos (no relation to the other Marcellos that closed on Perkins in the Bulldog shopping center)

For starters it's impossible to get to coming from one direction during peak times. Whoever had the idea to open a 4th sushi restaurant at that intersection deserved to lose their money. It never had a chance at success especially when the owners switched gears and changed to to a hibachi place then yet another Poke location.

I ate there once and it was decent but that location has been cursed since Calendars.

It was such a gruesome incident, it's impossible to forget.

I never had the chance to make it before it closed but the menu seemed confused. It wanted to be everything to everyone instead of focusing on one particular style.

I'd met the owner a few times when he used to come sit in my bar around 1-2pm most Wednesdays. Nice guy and we would talk about how the restaurant was going but he did zero advertising, like most restaurants at that location. Had I not met him, I would have never known it ever existed.

I used to work for Uber eats, and that sushi place seemed to be doing well at the time. And I had the food once and it was good...has to be the location not just shitty restaurants.

The crazy part is someone will be trying to open a restaurant in that location in a few months using the exact same plan

Yup, and the vicious cycle that is that location will continue for the foreseeable future.
