Usually eat wheat, but have 2 young kids entering into their pbj and geilled cheese era so we’ve been keeping bunny bread around.

No clue, but they are apparently putting even more preservatives in it. I went to the camp this weekend and we had left a half a loaf of Bunny bread there from the middle of April. It was still soft, no mold, and didn't smell like fermented wine. I almost started a "should I eat it" thread about it . (I didn't eat it)

Get them started on whole wheat bread. Mine doesn't even know what white bread is. I hate to be that guy, but I just couldn't help myself. I expect downvotes.

Even most commercial wheat breads-Orowheat, Natures Own are filled with seed oils, dough conditioners, soy lecithin, calcium sulfates, etc…

Even Dave’s Killer Bread while a better choice uses dough conditioners, commercial yeast, vinegar for its sourness-not real sourdough.

Read this thread and see what and where to obtain truly healthy 3 ingredient bread. Flour,
Water and Salt.

Baton Rouge Sourdough

Makes great PB&J as well as grilled cheese. Kids love it.

Yes, my wife is a breadmaker. But I didn't want to go so far as to tell OP to make his own bread. I was trying to slightly moderate my snobbiness.

Ezekiel is not a bad choice. And I get it. Most people don’t want to or have time.

That’s why I bake 150 loaves a week. To feed those people.

I buy the cheapest white bread to feed the backyard Ibis', the fish, etc. It NEVER goes bad. No mold, fluffy, fresh. We don't eat it. Seems like a lab experiment.

They put chemicals in it to prevent mold and extend longevity

Well crap, stay away from the Pepperidge Farms buns then.

Next time buy a nice red grocery store tomato and set it next to the loaf of bread. It will last every bit as long as the bread and still look nice and red. Frankenstein tomato’s.

I noticed that starting in 2021 when the supply chain issues were happening. Bunny Bread went from a consistent straight fluffy texture to stringy lumpy , slightly yellow tinged with a slight sour taste. The only thing I could make a guess on is that they switched the quality of the wheat. Could be they are using a harder wheat which doesn't absorb as well.

The “wheat” and “grains” we use here aren’t even real anymore they’re some Frankenstein’s monster.

Buy real ancient whole grains and make a loaf of bread and it ruins bread

Evangeline and Bunny are owned by the same company. The bakery in New Orleans makes Bunny and Evangeline

Evangeline bread was sold to Flower in 1976 so it is not really local company anymore.
