Look, if you’re legit trying to lose weight, good on ya. But maybe see if your health insurance will, pay for a session with a nutritionist (many will do so w a referral from your doc) and be systematic about this,

Easiest way to shed pounds is to give up sugar and alcohol.

Back to the lunches: a decent rule of thumb is to reduce carbs, and dramatically increase the amount of veggies you’re eating, Learn to like cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, zucchini, and all other leafy greens, Look for lean proteins and eat as little processed food as possible.

Ok, I get the no health ins. So follow this easy rule of thumb: if it’s white, don’t eat it. White flour, white rice, white bread, potatoes. Swap those empty carbs for other foods, esp veggies. Learn to eat curry without the rice, or eat it over riced cauliflower (easily bought at Walmart in a frozen pack you just microwave).

Cravings...download the free J&J official 7 minute workout app. It’s a very simple, no equipment needed workout. Even a poorly coordinated ten year old can do it. Every time you crave something, do the damn 7 min workout. Shoot for at least 2 x a day.

Good luck, lose weight for yourself and your heart health. Not some mythical female. Also, find a hobby that is not eating. Paint, draw, cycle, knitting, whatever. If you’re stuck in an apt with lots of ppl, go find the local public library and take advantage of the free resources, programs and AC.

If you don’t mind sandwiches, what I do is make turkey and cheese sandwich with just a little mayo every day. I get my variety from my side. You can find a lot of little microwave side dishes at Walmart for about 200 calories each. (Example: Rice a Roni, easy Mac, mash potatoes, small chef Boyardi units, etc). Add carrots or cucumbers or an apple for a fresh side. With a bottle of water and a sugar free flavor packet, you are looking at ~ 450-500 calories and a full stomach.

Circling back to also say that any change in diet needs to be accompanied by a change in shopping habits. If you don’t buy healthy stuff, you can’t eat it. Spend most money around the edges of a store: fresh produce, lean meats, whole grain breads. Stay out of the processed foods in the middle aisles.

I didn’t say it was working lol.

All joking aside, yeah. I used weight watchers to lose a good deal of weight in the last year. The sandwich, hot side, fruit/veggie, and water was only a small fraction of my daily caloric allowance. I could skip breakfast, eat that every day, and then dang near blow it up for dinner and still be in my totals.

Everyone is different but for me, I found that routine and planning was important. Lunch was easy to control if I made 5 sandwiches on Sunday night and had the meals prepped to go when I left for work.

We eat a fair amount of chicken and salads for dinner but I must confess that I enjoy experimenting with new foods and they are not always healthy. They do usually taste good though :)

What I typically do is cook big on Saturday or Sunday. I'll grill a bunch of chicken or burgers and them store them in meal prep boxes in the fridge. You can do a lot with grilled chicken: salads, stand alone, or sandwich. The flavor options are limitless. A Boston Butt smoked over the weekend can feed a person for the rest of the week. Meal prep on Saturday or Sunday when you have time. They sell those Asian takeout food containers at the store.

No cafateria at work

Is there an oven or stove at your work? Or just a microwave?

If you want healthy, can't go wrong with a salad + protein with minimal fixins.
