Dear Friends,

Today we have so much for which to be grateful and to celebrate! First, one our Missouri fan friends on the Money Board helped some of the regulars there with a stock tip on SLS, helping to double and triple some of our investments in just one day. Second, our friend, el Gaucho, is celebrating his 10th anniversary as a registered TD member in just 10 days! It was oh such a great day, the type of day that deserves celebrating.

To celebrate, Mother allowed me to take her vehicle to drive to Dillard's this afternoon. There, wearing an N-95 mask, and moving swiftly like one of Santa's elves, purchased a tree worth of Christopher Radko ornaments. The total was just north of 1400, but a drop in the bucket for the real value for these beauties. I also purchased another Spode plate and serving bowl, just in case I run into our other friend, Cosmo, some time soon. He loves Spode, and I like getting friends what they love.

For dinner, I wanted the true Jefferson Parish experience tonight, so, as I do in pandemic times, I got two classics of JP to go. That's right The Tico!

I was quite distraught when the powers closed the longest surviving Mexican restaurant on the Gulf Coast, Taco Tico on Vets, five years ago. The Metro truly dodged a bullet by having a second location, on the less booming Williams Blvd. I get sad when I see lines at Taco Bell and think that if the masses continue to forsake Taco Tico we may be without The Tico in coming years. That would be a travesty, so please do your part in supporting Kenner's Taco Tico. I got eight tacos. What I appreciate about their regular tacos is that they put freshly diced tomatoes in them. At Taco Bell, you have to order specialty tacos for that, which is such a scam. I noticed that Taco Tico still has Sunday taco specials, now for 89 cents, but still a bargain in the taco world.

On my way back home in Mid City, where I plan on doing some garland prep tonight, I then stopped at the second Jefferson Parish landmark, Egg Roll House. I had only been through the drive-thru before. This time, I wanted to see its interior, so I called ahead and ordered for pickup.

It was a simple order -- just egg drop soup and an egg roll. The man was super friendly and fast. I thanked him for his service and for keeping this institution alive and going. I can only imagine that numerous land speculators, investors, and national chains have approached him about purchasing his restaurant on that prime piece of property near Lakeside on Vets. I would think there is hardly any commercial real estate outside of downtown that has a higher value per square foot. I fear that one day, and perhaps not that long from today, The Egg Roll House will face the same fate at Taco Tico of Vets.

I ate in Mother's car, something I hope you will not tell her if you see her within memory of this message. She despises food in her car and would not tolerate the thought of eating food in it.

May all days be of great profit like this one, and may your meals be merry and tasty.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Tried my hand at roast beef with an eye roast I needed to get out of the freezer. Surprisingly delicious.
