Anybody else kinda interested in seeing what they put out?

Gotta wonder what the Weber can do that other products on the market can't. I can't imagine that it won't be good.

Weber puts out some quality products, hope they go all in and put out a nice one. Having a high end controller could be a potential short coming, do they have any smart stuff on their grills yet?

Looks like a rear hopper design like the Rec Tec Bull.

I hope it's not severely overpriced like the Summit Kamado they are selling.

It probably will be.

In the case of Weber products, you pay for quality. Many years ago, I thought Weber's were way overpriced. I see it differently, now. You can pay a lot less and you can pay a lot more. Webers last and they do what they are designed to do very well.

I would hope they have a way to generate a good sear zone in that sucker.

My brother in law manages an Ace hardware. We talked about this the other night and he mentioned a Weber rep told him that tentatively they are looking at an MSRP of the base model being in the 1200-1500 range.

I call bullshite on that. I expect the base to come in somewhere around $800-1000 with more expensive models available.

Same here until I switched from a box store special to a Genesis. I'll never go back.

I did the same. I will admit that I only did it because 2 of my neighbors were always bragging on their Webers, and they were cooking better food on the grill than me, even though I was a much cook in the kitchen.

I got the Weber and learned the difference between indirect and direct cooking. I learned how important even heat distribution was, and eventually learned that Webers don't rust out every few years like the $99 specials I had been buying up to that point.

For me it was my step dad, grandfather and brother in law. I realize now, they were just trying to shoot me straight

You are probably right as that is the sweet spot there is not a lot of competition in, there are eleventy billion companies making $300-600 units and several making some really nice $1500+ units, they will need to find an uncrowded entry point.

It will be.

Weber tends to price an item on the high end at the beginning, but it stays the same price for several years. If you buy one early, it's expensive, but toward the end of the lifespan of that model--maybe 10 years or so--it will be the same price and seem relatively inexpensive or at least less painful.

You can also catch damn good deals on Webers if you're patient.

I picked up a stainless steel Genesis II LX 3 burner with side burner, cover, and iGrill + 4 probes included, all for $799 at Costco a few months ago.
