I like HoboDickCheese’s entry. Fried yellow squash over spaghetti squash. Simple and tasty (I’m sure). I would have liked to seen it with soft mooozarella melted on top of the fried yellow squash and some fresh basil leaves tucked in there as garnish. (Note: I ignored the side of parmesan battered zucchini fries.)

SixthAndBarone. Wood Fire Grilled Lamb Chops with Smoked Pumpkin Puree and Pickled Squash. I think I would enjoy eating this entry very much. More so because of the lamb chops than the squash. Frankly, the plating would have been better with less pumpkin puree. And the pickled squash would have popped more with some parsley. It sort of gets lost on the plate.

MeridianDog and his butternut squash meal. Looks great. You present it well. I don’t know how to vote for three different items. If we are voting for effort and quantity, you win. For shits and giggles, you should have thrown in some pumpkin spice ice cream to go with the cake. But I choose to vote base on the soup only, which looks really tasty.

LouisianaLady. Creamy spaghetti squash stuffed with chicken, spinach, and roasted red peppers. This looks really good to me, aside from the over browning. I would try it with shredded cheddar cheese melted on top and maybe pork sausage instead of chicken. The plating sucks. But I still like yours the best.

Darla Hood. Butternut Squash & SPAM Hash w/Smoked Sausage & Spinach. I would have liked to seen a photo with the pumpkin seeds. I’m having trouble knocking your entry. At first, I wasn’t a fan. It looks like a chunky mess without the egg. But put the egg on top, then bam!, it’s a solid breakfast entry. For me personally, the Spam makes it work. For the record, I think you would have squashed me if I had participated.

USEyourCURDS. Air fried Delicata. Would eat. Plating sucks much, much more than LouisianaLady. Although, you won’t get a vote from me, there’s something to be said for highlighting the beauty of the squash itself. Frankly, SixthAndBarone’s entry would have looked better with your entry as a side rather than his pickled squash.

Lambdatiger1989. Confit Byaldi. AKA Ratatouille. I’m a big fan of color. Nice even slicing. I would have liked to seen it plated. Frankly, a nice plating would have gotten you a #2 vote from me.

LaLadyinTx. Acorn Squash Stuffed with Sausage and Cornbread Stuffing. I don’t know much I would like this personally, but I really like this entry. Looks like something one would see in a food magazine. It’s essentially a turkey stuffing, but placed in an acorn squash. The thing bothering me is that there’s no squash in it. There’s a squash bowl, which you can eat after you work your way through the other stuff. And it’s like I want something else on the plate as garnish or a sauce or sitting on top of some dirty rice or something, perhaps a sprig of rosemary on top, but truthfully I think it works fine as is with the wine.

Frankly, if the plating’s were better on some of the other entries, my votes would have changed bigly. But I have to vote on what is presented rather than the entry’s potential.
