One thing I’ve never happened to purchase or acquire even though I find myself cooking a lot or trying to find bulk meat deals and freeze. My parents used to have a foodsaver right when they came out but never used it much so I believe it got tossed or lost in flood. Just started looking at purchasing one. Open for pros/cons and suggestions or just tell me to shut up and buy.

Chamber Vacuums are great but they are big and expensive.

The ones like Food Saver are probably all close to the same. I have a Cabelas that I found on deep discount 6 yrs back but it's likely just a rebranded Foodsaver. I will say it has lasted quite a while and I use it weekly to freeze leftover BBQ, Costco steaks, fish, other items.

I researched several different brands, and then decided that I didn't need all the bells and whistles. Bought the cheapest foodsaver I could find for just over $30 on a black Friday sale.

I've had it for a couple of years, and it gets used a lot (weekly) for garden vegetables, deer, fish and leftovers. For the money, that's the best way to go.

Second this answer. Will be smaller and easier to store/use. If you find yourself using it a lot when/if it wears out after a few years upgrade.

I’ve got a cheap food saver that does a decent job with dry food. Anything with excessive juice or moisture just doesn’t get a good tight seal. Mostly use it for fish and it’s not that great compared to a chamber vac.

That sounds reasonable and probably what I’ll lean towards. Cabelas reviews were up in the air as far as sealing consistency.

I've had a cheap Foodsaver for years and it gets used a lot. Like PapaPogey said, wet foods can cause a bad seal, so I pre-freeze them before vacuuming.

Food Saver here too, bought at Costco on sale with a couple boxes of extra packaging bags and rolls. I've probably put up over 100 lbs. of homemade sausage, lots of pork and beef steaks and other prepared food to go in the freezer.

Easy to use and works very well-------and won't break the bank to get into vacuum sealing foods.

Looks like it’ll be foodsaver fm2000 one of their cheaper models. Amazon prime for $82

This looks dope, but man its a grand on Amazon. Other problem is I don't have nearly enough counter space and at 84 lbs its too heavy/big to move in/out of the pantry when I want to use it like I do my foodsaver. If I had a huge kitchen/and or a shop where I could keep it maybe.

That said, in 10 years with weekly use including the cost of bags and 2 different food savers I've spend maybe $300 with no complaints.

For those of you that don't have the space (or cash) for the VacMaster, Avid Armor makes two different smaller chamber vacs for $599 and $399 respectively. You can check them out on their Amazon store here

Thanks for posting. May jump up to one of those when my old sealer dies. Need to read more on the capacity of the small one.

I have the small one (20) arriving here tomorrow. I'll report back once I get it up and running. Plan on getting whatever big hunk of meat is on sale at Costco tomorrow and put it through its paces.

It's just the wife and I so I didn't see a need to go with the bigger one, plus the smaller one has a vacuum port for jars and such like a typical FoodSaver. The older 32 doesn't.
