re: Twisted Root Burger Co. coming to Shreveport.......

Twisted Root is great. Yes, it is more expensive than you may be used to, but the selection of burgers is second to none. There are not many places you can get a lamb or elk burger, and despite the large variety in the menu, everything I have had there has been good to great. They make their own sauces, pickle varieties, and root beer, so the dedication to put out quality stuff is evident. Not exactly somewhere I would want to go everyday, but it is in my rotation of places to bring out of town guests for lunch.

ETA: I guess it was a sammich, not a burger. Drew Brees will be happy...it's gonna be a Jimmy Johns. Bad news for Jersey Mikes and Especially Lenny's which is hanging on by a thread and now closes at 8 on weeknights.
That whole development on all 4 corners of the intersection of Youree and E. 70th is one big clusterfrick. You didn't even mention Firehouse subs, which is a 9 iron away from that new Jimmy Johns. If I were a tenant there I would be pissed that they keep allowing similar businesses to open - especially if I owned whichever came first between Mike's and Lenny's. I like Smoothie King but it's almost too much of a hassle to go over there at lunch.

Yeah I remembered after I posted it that Firehouse was back there. Plus there's Mcallister's and Newks which are just a stones throw from Jimmy Johns. The area is going to be over saturated. I'm not sure how Lenny's is still hanging on but the arrival of Jimmy Johns will likely put an end to it.

didn't even know Jimmy Johns was in the cluster!

I'm just glad we are getting some new restaurants! Hopefully they will attract more.
Would love for Pappadeaux to come here!!!!!!!

that must be the most amount of restaurants in a square mile in La.... completely rediculous.
If the wife and I go to dinner we head to Bistro or Guisseppe's before even thinking about going to Youree Drive cluster.

I remember 15 years ago when that was the hot spot. You had Olive Garden and Books a Million and all the other chain restaurants. Then Youree exploded and here we are: Anytown USA.
I saw that coming 20 years ago when I lived in University Terrace off Youree.
I walked outside in my back yard at night and looked up at a clear sky and could not see a single star because of the lights of the encroaching city.
Sold the place and built a house on Cypress Lake. When I walk outside at night it's so dark I can't see my feet. Lovin' it!

Will be interested to see what Bella Fresca brings to the table with their new location off Flournoy Lucas. I try to hit local places first over chains (unlike the rest of the area it seems) and I'd put Bella Fresca up against anything else in town. Only Chianti and Mabry House on a good menu night can rival it. Bistro and Guisseppe's are good, but the best thing on Guisseppes menu (salmon zagara) doesn't exist anymore.

I talked to the owner of Bella fresca and he told me the new location is going to be more casual. Patio style as he worded it.

Yeah, that's what I was told by them also. Works fine for me if their food is anywhere near as good as the original. I don't know what it is about the original but it's really good every time there. With the explosion of new places lately seems like somebody isn't going to be around any longer.

My term for that section of Hwy 1 - "Youree-hell"

Is this David? I worked for him at a failed Mexican Burrito place that him and John from Monjuni's partnered in.

yea I worked as the cook there from the beginning. It was really busy at first but just dropped off. Guess they were before the build a burrito business took off. They got the idea from Chilpolte's.
