Tortilla question

Every time I buy a pack of tortillas to make some home made enchiladas or burritos, the tortilla cracks when I try to roll it or fold it around the filling.
Is there a trick to making it more flexible? TIA.

Not sure best way. I run each one under sink to wet, wrap in foil, and heat up in the oven. Can use butter instead of water I guess.

I assume you're talking about corn tortillas. The key to making them pliable is to blanch them in hot oil for about 10 seconds or so. Put them on a paper towel to drain until they are cool enough to work with for rolling.

Flour tortillas? Do you always buy the same brand? I find that the ones usually found in the refrigerated section (like Azteca brand) tend to be thinner and more likely to crack than the ones on the shelf (Mission brand or La Banderita around here).
Steaming might help, maybe put them in the microwave for about 5-10 seconds one at a time to soften them. When we make fajitas, we usually warm them individually in a non-stick pan (with NO oil) for about 20 seconds each side, then they roll up nicely.
ETA: These are suggestions for flour toritllas; I don't like corn tortillas so I'm not sure what to do with those.

Corn-blanch them in hot oil for about 10 seconds or so.
Flour-store bought ones are dehydrated. So steam them or put them in microwave for 10-15 seconds wrapped in damp paper towel.

I've been trying large store bought flour tortillas.
Microwaving didn't work but I put them in dry, not with damp towel.
I prefer corn tortillas but they only come in a smaller size.

You can wrap the flour torts in foil and warm them in the oven, also, to make them more pliable.

Use the microwave it's quicker.
Put a stack of about 5 of them on a wet paper towel that is wrapped around the stack and microwave until warm
No reason to bring real ovens into this equation

Probably right, but in my mind the oven is better.

We're talking about making corn tortillas more pliable here...let's not get carried away

Don't bring logic in to this. My mind tells me oven heat will be my best option. I trust it...most of the time.

As stated... steam flour (or microwave), and toast corn in a lightly oiled pan.

This is very important for me to know going forward.

I prefer the oven and I'm sticking to it!

Of course! It's the correct answer.

OK, since I've got flour tortillas now. I'm gonna try microwaving them in a wet paper towel tonight for dinner.
Don't want to use a real oven since it's 102 degrees outside.
One question. Why do they not make large size corn tortillas? I only see large flour in the store.

I looked this up. There is a place in Arizona (I think) called Romeros (I think) that makes them, but it looked like they are not widely distributed.
Google "extra large corn tortillas" and you will get what I found.
I would love larger corn tortillas as well.
