Sad thing is most people couldn't tell you the difference between any of them.

That's like not being able to tell the difference between a big Mac and a Whopper.

They all make the same shitty beer with recipes that are criminally similar.

But they're successful with it so you can't argue with what they're doing.

Pabst

I'll drink just about anything but Pabst is legitimately an awful tasting beer.

are there any hardcore craft beer drinkers?

All the functioning beer drunks I've known stick to the domestics. Went fishing with a guy who put down a case of bud light. He didn't start showing signs of it until about beer 20. Had to tip my hat to him.

nope, this is the thread where the cool people point out that if you're drinking any national brand and not making your own beer you should be shot.

High life ponies on a hot day by the pool and in the pool is a good way to end up completely fricked up. Things go down quick ice cold.

Glad to see the beer nerds failing. I have never understood you guys
As a sidenote, I recently went in Chicago Pizza, they have something like 110 beers available. I ordered a tall Coors light draft. The bartender said, "We have 110 beers here and you ordered that"? I said I like what I like, that doesn't make me stupid! He shut up
I've never understood, whether it's food, drink, clothing, whatever, why if someone doesn't have the same "tastes" as you, what makes you right and them stupid? I don't get it

It doesn't make you "stupid", per se, it just makes you guilty of having an incredibly bad pallet. Someone choosing to eat dog food instead of filet mignon doesn't make them "stupid", but I sure as hell am going to make fun of their bad taste in food.

The right thing for the bartender to do was to offer you a beer you might like, get you to try something that wouldn't shock your taste buds but introduce you to something new. There are some decent craft lagers you may really enjoy.

I was at a grocery store recently and there was this older gentleman who wanted to buy Michelob Amber Bock but they were out. He asked me if I had any suggestions for him and I told him to snag a sixer of New Holland Fat Tire. I'm not a fan of Fat Tire but it's a MUCH better tasting amber than the Michelob. I promise you that dude has been drinking Fat Tire since my recommendation and, hopefully, checked out some other craft beers.

Yeungling Is cheap and available, Sam Adams is readily available. Hell, Sierra Nevada is sold in Walmart. While I’m not surprised by this list I’m disappointed that my fellow Americans have such bad taste in beer.

I guess it’s proof marketing works.

I read it correctly.

9/10 beers I drink are Terrapin, Creature Comforts, Monday Night etc.

Because I like them better than BMC. Not because of pallet.

The condescending “pallet” argument is stupid.

Michelob Ultra has had one of the most amazing advertising campaigns of all time.

The beer has almost no discernable taste, but is considered healthy because of commercials.

Miller Lite has almost the exact same nutritional profile, but actually tastes like beer (albeit not the best beer in the world, but my go to on the rare occasion I drink the Big 3).

Michelob Ultra: 2.6 carbs, 95 calories

Miller Lite: 3.2 carbs, 96 calories.

Mic Ultra is like craft beer to some folks. I was at my cousin’s wedding and we ended the night at the Hilton bar in Rockwall and they were downing them all night long.

It’s interesting to think that just looking at that chart, you could deduce that Bud Light is like 10% of all beer sales.
