For anyone who has gotten a sack of oysters from Tony’s recently, how have they been? What’s roughly the count and price? Website is saying $65 for 32 pounds.

Paid $65 for gallon shucked
All were good
They have to have a date tag so can see how fresh.

Have gotten any recently, but they've always been good when I've grabbed a sack.

Early January, got a sack. It was about $60. Don't remember the exact price. Got about 9 or 10 dozen out of the sack. They were good.

I haven’t bought any this year but bought a couple last year from Tony’s. The first sack was delicious! Got another sack a couple of weeks later and they were terrible. Brought them back and they said they shouldn’t have sold me those and exchanged for another sack from a different area. They were better but not nearly as good as the first sack.

Why not? Were they old?

Lots of downvotes when I asked if anyone has bought bad oysters but nobody else has confirmed that they have.

They didn’t say why. Just that they shouldn’t have given me those. Not sure if they were old or came from a subpar batch. Btw I’m a big Tony’s Seafood fan. Been going there for 50 years. They are the best in town. But with seafood you have to be careful. The only other time I had an issue with Tony’s is when I purchased some red snapper and had them filet it for me. When I got home and was about to cook it I smelled it and it smelled like arse. Really strong. I didn’t take it back though. Cooked some of it and threw some away. It tasted okay and didn’t make me sick though.
