Second post is Coater saying he has removed them from two people. I'll take his word over yours. Is the risk low? You bet. Is it zero? No.

Except you have to stick your hand / arm directly over the hot arse charcoal to clean with it.

Good lord.. Take your tin foil hat off. You are taking this way too seriously. Using your logic, my crazy conspiracy is that your family holds the patent for wire brushes and this is your desperate attempt to defend them

I've personally had a wire bristle stuck in the side of my mouth after cooking chicken myself. Nothing unusual, just a simple scrub with an averaged priced store bought wire brush

After that incident, I did some research and made my own wooden scraper

Your funny little anecdotes don't mean shite, there are documented cases of people being hurt from wire brushes and I have experienced it first hand

Well I've been using them for 40 years. I burn grill, scrub with wire brush, paper towel wadded up soaked in oil run across with the tongs.

Any wires I just use as toothpicks.

Yea you rub the grates with a paper towel after, which likely knocks any wires off of the grates

It isn't common knowledge to wipe the grates after using the wire brush

How are you people so dense that you can't see how this works? The wires come off the brush. The wires get stuck in the food. The wires get stuck in your throat.

Why does this have to be some kind of conspiracy? If you want to keep using a wire brush, great, move along. We don't need to hear your anecdotal stories about how long you have been using a wire brush. And if you don't want to use a wire brush you aren't a pussy.

I've seen it a lot....on my own grill. And I probably light my grill 4-5 times a month. Then I started seeing these alerts (if you will) about the wires getting caught in peoples throats. Thats all it took for me. Went and bought one of these. Haven't looked back since.

It is very much a real problem and not worth me taking the chance at rushing one of my kids to the hospital because Im too stupid and stubborn to make the simple switch.

Not even close. That was my biggest concern so I've been paying attention to the bristles. They haven't deteriorated ANY. Bought it at Lowe's for like 8 bucks.

eta: And I don't scrub the grill until I get it good and hot.
