Tried the new location on Millerville Thursday night. Got the combo plate with tenders, wings, Texas toast, fries. I thought it was crap. The Texas toast was soggy white bread, it was barely toasted at all, and looked like it came from a loaf of bunny bread. Tenders were ok, no better than Canes. Wings were just generic wings, could get better at most wing places. I did like the fries however, since I like my fries crispy, and theirs were very crispy.

Service was also crap. Took a half hour to get my food, with less than ten cars in line in front of me at the start. I'm assuming this is bc it was a new restaurant. It also looked like they took a Canes/Chick-fil-A approach to hiring workers, these workers weren't the usual fast food employees, they were actually friendly and clean-cut

Did I have a bad experience, or is this the usual for Zaxbys?

I like the Texas toast and sweet tea. Everything else is average at best.

My kids like it. The salads are pretty good. Personally as a whole I don't think they are all that good. There are better options. I don't have a Canes by my house which is across the bay from Mobile. What I do have right by Zaxby's is something called Foosacklys and it's much better. Foosacklys is owned by a guy that went to LSU. It's similar to Canes.

I've found that you can't get places like Zaxby's or Cane's to go and expect crispy food. The steam in the box causes the tenders/bread/fries to get soggy so quickly.

I enjoy both of them for what they are: fast food chicken tenders. Zaxby's has better menu and choices, Cane's has better bread and slightly better sauce.

I like their Zensation Zalad, but it's only on the menu a few weeks a year.

Like it the same as Canes, which isn't much. But sides of fried shrooms and cheese bites gives Zax the slight edge.

I don't get why people like these chicken finger places.

Chicken fingers, fries and toast is so meh.

I liked the tenders in the hot honey mustard sauce

Or at least I used when I last frequented Zaxbys like 8-9 years ago

I've been twice, once to the location on Airline Highway in Baton Rouge and the other off Highway 30 in Gonzales.

Service is on par with Raising Cane's but short of Chick-fil-A.

Food is awful. Chicken, like Cane's, lacks flavor. Fries are frozen. And the Texas Toast was hardly toasted. At least Cane's has a good sauce to work with. Zaxby's sauce is disgusting to me.

Maybe I will be wrong, but this fast expansion into our market won't end well, in my opinion. Not sure if it is individual franchise owners or just one person with a deep pocket and great banker, but I can't see anyone over time thinking this is a better option than Cane's.

I like Zaxbys. I saw Foosackly's mentioned somewhere in this thread, and they're the GOAT in my mind.

(of course, this does not include popeyes, chick fil a, etc. This is based off these same premised chicken finger restaurants. Give me popeyes chicken tenders or fried chicken every single time vs the above mentioned restaurants)

Not to derail ... but I'm almost certain Popeyes Chicken tenders are pre-battered and then frozen.

Yep. Never understood why Canes never added this option. It would greatly widen their market

Widen their market for what? They seem to be doing just fine.
