same here...i think it's the texture, rather than the flavor for me...i also don't eat raw bell pepper, texture and flavor on them. i love trying new foods though, and will give pretty much anything a chance. i'm not sure about chitlins or tripe, but i love liver, marrow and sweetbreads

do you like BLTs, Bacon Cheeseburgers?
I don't like nuts in things, I dislike the change in texture. I feel like there is a bug or something that shouldn't be there. I like nuts by themselves.

she said I was weird because I don't really care for breakfast meats (sausage, bacon, ham [really I think those thick slices of ham that people serve in the morning are effing gross])

what are your food oddities?
I don't like bad food, or people who suck at cooking and ruin what could actually be good. Other than that, I'm pretty much game.
I've known people who won't eat eggs though, and that right there is freaking STRANGE to me.

Peas. Can't stand them....they pop when you put them in your mouth and they're dry and nasty.
I will pick every freaking pea out of rice pilaf or fried rice at restaurants. (Same thing for carrots if they put them in there, although I will eat steamed baby carrots or carrots in beef stew.)
And to the Protestants can't cook comment: The potluck dinners at our Presbyterian church in BR usually have some pretty good dishes, although I think it's because of the Southern Louisiana influence. One of my Yankee relatives sent me a cookbook from their local Methodist church and I couldn't find one decent recipe to try--they all looked/sounded nasty.
My husband would not eat cheese of any kind when I first met him, because the only type he grew up with was Kraft American slices. I have cured him of this phobia though, and now he puts cheese on things that I don't.

I've been eating lots of scrambled eggs on the diet I have been on now for almost 9 freaking months and the smell of scrambled eggs now makes me nauseous. I still semi like the taste of them, but the smell makes me ill.
Once this damn diet is over you can add scrambled eggs and hamburger to my hate to eat list. Better yet, you can actually add them now.

This made me laugh, but seriously, some of the new posters might make the mistake of suggesting some of those foods to Zach when he asks for ideas. A reminder every once in a while will keep the newbies on top of things.

So you have never used ketchup on fries? Oh, probably too snobby for fries. Have you ever used ketchup on your pomme frites?

Same here, I always order Kung Pao Beef with no peanuts.

Ham & pineapple
Honey roasted peanuts
I don't get the concept of altering meat or nuts to taste sweet. Why?
