I heard today that it will be re-opening in a couple of weeks with a more Italian centric menu. I wish them the best.

Has any place had more iterations than that joint?
I'm assuming you're talking about the location at the old original Ralph and Kacoo's? How many different times has it opened as The Oxbow?

This will be the 3rd I think. It was also Steamboat Charlies bar for a few year period in there.

It's gotta be more than that. Different folks have been shuttering (burning down, etc.) and reopening that place for 40+ years now.

I'm talking about the building in the parking lot of the shopping center near the pizza joint right of 61. It's been The Oxbow at least twice in the last several years. 15 years ago that building was a bar called Steamboat Charlies. Not sure where Ralph and Kacoos was..

The original Oxbow was in New Roads on False River, that is an oxbow.

False river oxbow>>>>>>>
I remember going there as a kid and literally seeing my whole family there.
Yes, I'm from the area

Yes. The original Oxbow restaurant was in the metropolis of Oscar, LA. It was in the same building vacated by the first Ralph and Kacco's (Olinde.)
There have been a few for sure. The only things likely to have stayed the same are things like the hush-puppy recipes and the fried seafood.
It just occurred to me, if the owner re-opens with Italian fare, maybe the Oxbow moniker will disappear.
I don't care. The owner is a very talented chef and foodie. I will eat there regardless of the name. Here is hoping the service is a little better.

shite, I just realized the OP said "in St. Francisville." The only iteration of The Oxbow I recall there, was at the Myrtles. I guess which leads to another question: How many different locations have called themselves The Oxbow?
It's really an odd phenomenon.

The Oxbow moved from the Myrtles some years ago to the area described by Mr. Balls. Have no idea how many times they've opened in that location. I hope the food is good this go round because St. F is seriously lacking in options.

Didn't Jerry Reed, the country singer, own it at one time? I know he owned something around there.

I ate there last November and was one of the best ribeyes I've ever had.
Had also eaten there back in 2008 and it was great!
Glad they're coming back.

I've had a number of very good meals there, as well. I didn't even mind the decor. It made me laugh.
