It has no tenants yet as far as I know. It's all being built with insurance money so there is no rush to lock down tenants I guess.

I'm hearing that the caterie is supposed to be rebuilt or something. Not sure if it's at that location or at another.

What store did your dad have? I used to go in the Acadian IGA.

I believe years ago it had a TG&Y Family Center in it as well.

I dont think the Caterie is coming back.

I'm an old fart whose Caterie nights are behind him, but the Claitor's gladly sucked up a fortune in rent from them over the years, then left them out in the cold when the opportunity came to upgrade the property using someone else's money.

Well while I haven't talked to anyone I have read quite a few articles that quoted the Caterie owners saying they didn't want to come back.

And someone else's money comes from the insurance premium they have been paying for years. It's not free money and they only pay on value. You upgrade you pay.

I can assure you Claitors would have rather clipped along collecting rent rather than doing this.

You're assuming they had an insurance policy which covered the full value of the property.

The Caterie owners were making a fortune out of that old patchwork dump as well. I don't doubt that they didn't want to invest the kind of money it would take to build a new business to modern building codes.

It's all kind of like the slums on State Street. Prime real estate that could support quality housing and development, but slumlords have gotten wealthy and paid for those dumps many, many times over. Why make the effort and take the risk when you can continue with the squalor and keep banking plenty of cash?

Caterie made an effort to come back, budget drawings were made of the place, but my understanding is they could not reach an agreement with Claitors.
I was told after those negotiations they would never be back.
