Only 5 spots got an actual star. The rest got bib gourmand and recommended restaurants. Some got service awards and things like that, but only 5 got an actual star and all of those were 1 star.

i can't see Houston getting too many star'ed restaurants. March, Bluedorn, and few others will be looked at

tons of Bib gourmand spots

Yup. I don't care much about stars as much of what garners one is not stuff I value in a restaurant / experience. It'll will be nice for some of these really good restaurants to get notoriety either way.

The one thing about Michelin is that when they first come to a city, there is a bit of an arms race there and a ton of restaurants start upping their game big time and new big time chefs come in to try and get a star. So Texas will see a bit of an influx in the food scene

It will be interesting to see how it affects the restaurants under consideration. Bludorn said one of the reasons he left NYC was the emphasis on keeping stars undermined doing what was best for guests.

Eater story on chef's reactions to the news.

Michelin Guide is not the same as Michelin Star. No restaurant in Texas will be receiving a star.

Star is within the guide. They could have restaurants that have stars within the guide. I haven’t seen anything otherwise

Emeril’s in Nola shutdown for a long time and completely remodeled and revamped concepts.

The restaurant is now tasting menu only (they also have an attached wine bar where you can get a La carte).

It’s now a very high end place and is getting world class reviews.

Emeril’s young son took over as chef.

Haven't been to “new” Emerils yet but I would think Emerils and August would be guaranteed star restaurants.

Commanders would definitely be on the guide, if it would get a star then the 2 aforementioned should be two starred

GW Fins deserves at least 1 star, although I wouldn’t want it to get one because the prices would skyrocket

N7 and Paladar 511 would certainly be on the guide but not starred

Emeril's for sure. I have not been to August in years but there could be some politics behind them not getting one.

For sure.

Have you ever been to a Starred Restaurant before????

GW Fins wouldn't even come close to a star. That is patently ridiculous.

Several. GW Fins is consistently my favorite experience not just in Nola but in the country

The difference between Fins and starred restaurants I guess would be the atmosphere/ambiance at Fins can be argued to be average at best. Food and service are incredible

Then I say this with all due respect but you are high as giraffe pussy.

GW Fins is at best slightly above average and to me that’s a stretch. It’s the singe most overrated restaurant in the entire city, loved by Metairie folk. A star is so laughable I don’t even know where to begin

I’m sorry but I have to disagree with you.

GW Fins is fine. It’s not even close to being worthy of a single Michelin star

I can see August getting a star. From my experience most Michelin rated restaurants have a tasting menu.

Maybe Coquette also.

Its pretty ridiculous, but its just how Michelin operates in the states. They are very stingy where they go, and up until just a few years ago were only in like NY, CA, Chicago, LV basically, and they don't want the "prestige" to be watered down.

They've expanded in the past few years. They know in this era that they have to and are finding new ways to make money. At some point they will be in every major city
