shaft, questions ???

how'd y'all get stuck with an old GT machine? i wouldn't put up with that crap. demand a new style machine.

if i park in the back at night, do i have to worry about those crazy old bastards at that assisted living nursing home trying to attack me?

if i come in and mention TD.COM, will i get a discount?

will y'all start hanging pics on your wall of the more important clientele, like jeffrey next door at hunan does? sadly, my pic is not on his wall.

how come none of the bars have lingerie shows anymore? can you make this happen?

shepards pie my arse. how bout putting yorkshire pudding & roast beef on the menu?

1. The Londoner
2. Chelseas
3. North gate tavern
4. Spanish moon
5. Varsity
6. Red star

THe golden Tee? I don't know i thought it was new. & THEY are reading.. & probably laughing I am anonymous, the way I want it.

Yes you will have to worry about them especially on tue. & wed. thats when their medication gets in & they feel froggy. Especially because of those blue diamonds.

....almost got me. If you sit with the right server they may try something.

I doubt it about the picture thing unless your'e an english celebrity like Amy winehouse, or one of the spice girls, or mr bean.

A couple months ago the spanish moon tried to put on a burlesque show, which got banned. Because the law states (something like) " no girating, swaying or any kind of seductive movement" or some BS like that... go look it up. anyway, the londoner isn't licensed to have any of those acts. so NO i can't make that happen or ANYTHING ELSE happen.

& try the steak & ale pie, I hear it is amazing.

I went in the day they opened and sat at the bar. Just decided to Google it because a co-worker mentioned it and this thread came up. Since service is a big topic I actually have something to chime in about. Apparently because it's not a franchise of the Dallas restaurant the whole staff is kind of just "figuring out" how to run the place including the owners. The bartender did mention that the place is at least partially owned by the folks at Kamado's. I guess they don't have a ton of bar experience because they're running out of a lot of their alcohol offerings. My co-worker said they were out of Jaeger, a certain scotch he likes and a couple of the beers they requested.

That being said with the experience of their owners I would guess they'll figure it out. I hope so because they're on my way home and I love an actual pub.

Agreed the music has to be addressed. Personally I feel like a jukebox isn't a good choice for setting an atmosphere. If you want an English pub atmosphere play that music.

I say disable the juke box until 9pm.

Play fitting music throughout the day.

What do you do after visiting the nursing home to dull your sorrows? Why, head out to the Londoner for happy hour.

Arrived at four twenty, a couple sat in front of the fire enjoying drinks, a couple of guys were at the bar, and a table of guys were throwing a few back.

Promptly seated by a table closest to the bar and Soccer TV, tunes from the Grateful Dead played in the background.

Our waitress was Katy and she made us feel at home and was helpful throughout the night with beer and food selections.

Still no beer menu, but she left a printout with us. I chose the TD favorite Kilt lifter and wife got a Blue moon.

After round one, went for the Jalapeño poppers and ordered a Speckled Hen, wife only half finished with hers (lightweight).

Three large peppers with ranch were presented on a bed of fresh baby greens. They obviously spent more time in the grease than need and were on the dark side. That didn't seem to effect the dish, so I was happy out that. The stuffing was dense, spicy, and very filling. I liked them and the wife too, but we would have preferred less sausage and more pepperjack cheese, of which neither one of could detect at all. The greens went well with the fried.

The Speckled Hen was served very cold with a chilled glass. The flavor developed after I warmed the bottle with my hands (I didn't use the glass).

Ordered a Warsteiner dunkel (out) and some other beer I didn't know of and I can't remember the name (started with a G, out), went back to the Kilt lifter. Steak Pie for me, Chicken Tikka for the wife.

By this time it's close to six and a few more tables had filled around me. Place still pretty empty and more than enough wait staff to go around.

Wife's food showed up and Katy apologized, as my pie needed a 'minute' longer to brown the crust. The chicken Tikka masala was a woman's size portion of balsamic rice and tender chicken chunks surrounded by pita wedges. Neither one of us have much experience with curry, and both of us thought the dish was very tasty. If I would have ordered it I would have still been hungry afterward, she was just fine.

She was more than three quarters finished with her meal when mine finally showed up, a good ten minutes later. She felt bad eating without me, but her food would have been cold had she waited.

The steak pie's crust was anemic dough, nothing like a baked flaky crust described. Katy had told us that the main complaint that people had about the dish was that it was too small. It was served in a Grab-it sized bowl, and loaded with tender chucks of steak. For me, it was more than enough meat. Maybe because of the complaints they added more meat, I don't know. However, only found two mushrooms. I could have stood for a little less meat, and add a carbohydrate like barley in the mix. I amended by carb crave by eating my wife's left over rice with the steak. I really thought the two went well together.

At some point the music switched to 98.1. I thought the place had a nice feel to it. The bar is not that large and because of the raised two by four at the edge, I don't think I would chose to eat there. The table top could stand to be a little larger, knees kept hitting the stand. A woman at another table got the steak pie, her crust looked about like mine did. (Not a deal breaker at all for me).

I'd go back, I hate the location though. Wife would be a little more reluctant, but she would be a good sport about it.

that's a good, fair review ... and it looks like -- much like the music situation -- there seems to be a large contingent of people making mention of portion sizes relative to price ... there was an earlier poster in here that said the dallas location gives four jalapeno poppers for the same price, for example ... i had the bangers and mash a week ago monday .. and when i went back this past sunday .. i noticed the bangers were about half the size they had been .. just two little ones with an ice cream scoop of instant mashed potatoes for $11 ... kinda steep for what you are getting ... the fish and chips -- which are excellent in the taste department -- only gives two pieces of fish with a handful of chips (hand cut fries) for $12 ... just have to find a balance .. you don't want to just break even on your food, but you also don't want people to stop ordering food either .. it's a balance that i am sure they will find ...

they do BADLY need to get nice, laminated beer menus printed for all tables and the bar ... also, descriptions are needed for the off broadway, obscure beers too ... i am kinda concerned about the parking situation over there also .. once kamados and hunan closes (around 9:30 on weeknights and 10:00 on weekends) and their crowd clears out, things are better, but it is still a small parking lot and there is not a whole lot more in the back ... now, there are surrounding commercial locations down the street that one can park at if they wanna hoof it a bit ...

but a really good review there, enadious ..

yes....it actually took a little adjustment getting used to the new style because we bang the living shite out of the trackball to get that unimportant 5 to 10 extra yards. i almost flew over the new style a couple of times at 1st.....i'm sure that alcohol wasn't a factor.
