The Kitchen in downtown Funroe is closing shop.

Damn shame. The Kitchen has been there about as long a I can remember. Great lunch spot.

Well shite. I was just thinking about it the other day. Haven't been back to Monroe in a while. Their beef tips and sweet tea are great

Beef tips were great. Smothered pork chops, dumplins, hamburger steak, lawd..
I hope somebody fills the void. Big Mama's is great but it is usually too packed to get in. And I'm sure The Kitchen closing will make it 10x worse..

I haven't been there in several years but I hate to see it close.

I went twice this week after the announcement. Tried late, and they were out of almost everything on the buffet that day. So, the next day I tried early, and the line was out the door, down the street about 50 feet, and by the time I got to the buffet, they were (temporarily) out of two main dishes.
Hate that I had to settle both days. The food was still great.
