Back in the day, St. Roch Market was legit.

Think of an open air flea market with lots of booths...

Bobby's, River Ridge

Wow, I haven't thought about this place in a while. I lived few blocks away until I was 8 years old and have plenty of memories of picking up crawfish with my dad on Friday evenings.

I'll have to grab a few pounds next time I'm passing through River Ridge.

do you know if Hong Kong (or anywhere else) ever has barramundi? (not the cod variety. layman's terms = Asian seabass)

They did have some seabass I was not familiar with last time I was there but I'm not sure what type it was. It was not striped seabass or black sea bass from the northeast.

Yep and then Louisiana Pride on Dowman rd was a good one after that one but they closed down and sold out after Katrina.

Bobby's is legit, as they say here. I'd rate their crawfish top five in the Metro, but they also have really nice softshells. Not sure who supplies them, but I've always found they are fresh and not papery at all.

They are probably the best when it comes to freshness and availability of fresh fish fillets but they lack in other areas like crabs, crawfish, etc and their prices are so high also.

Thanks to the success of Al Scrumuzza's Seafood City,

Before I read it in you post the first place i thought of was Al Scrumuzza's. Not that it would have made this list.
