Girlfriend's been wanting to go for their Sunday crawfish. I'm not a big crawfish eater myself. Anybody been, and if so, what to get??

Not that you can't do good crawfish at a place called Taco Boudreaux, but that place seems to really be throwing everything out there for biz with their big red flashing crawfish sign and the lack of cars I usually see in the parking lot on my regular travels through the area.
Something real gimmicky about it all. I have a feeling it won't be long. I think the taco fad has about run its course. Maybe it's a lot to do with location, but you never hear anyone saying much about them or their food, absent crawfish.
If it were me, that's the direction I'd go in full steam ahead. Baton Rouge really doesn't have a place where you can just show up and eat GOOD boiled seafood like crawfish, shrimp and crabs. Nothing special, just come as you are and get busy. Throw in some oysters, and maybe a fresh seafood market on that side of town, and I think you might just find your niche.

Yep, at one point they had a giant bouncy house thing about 5 feet from the road.

There used to be one in Industriplex way back in the late 90s/early 00s when I visited a few times called "The Crawfish Place." Delicious crawfish and no frills, it was definitely just a place to eat, nothing more. Never had any of their other dishes though.

Another joint like that was off Airline in NBR. I remember them. The Industriplex location was really a bad location IMO. At the time, I worked down the street from them and it was more of a lunch spot for decent little seafood Poboys fried seafood plates and the like, but not a real good spot for dinner when people want to get nasty with some crawfish. I seriously think if you opened something like that up around the Sherwood area it would kill, especially on the weekends. Need to tap that Dinner service when you're talking boiled seafood IMO.

Apparently youve never been to randy montalbanos.

The old Brittany's seafood? Yeah, not a good location at all.

I've seen a few people on the OT mention meeting up there for lunch breaks, but other than that, I don't hear much. The place looked gimmicky to me from the day it opened. The decor and the truck outside.. weird.
I don't like Tex Mex mixed with Louisiana food. Shredded seafood doused in cheese, topped with a cream sauce, and wrapped in a tortilla is just not for me. I don't know if they actually offer that, but the only other Mex-Louisiana blend place in BR (Mestizo) serves shite like that and it's gross to me.
I agree with you though. It annoys me that places like Niche, Times Grill, etc. that don't normally get much business decide to serve crawfish to get more business. I guess I see why they do it, but it's weird to me.
I saw Restaurant IPO is serving it. I think IPO is VERY good, and I couldn't imagine going there and eating crawfish instead of their well-done tapas.

What?
Sammy's has boiled crawfish, crabs, shrimp, chargrilled crabs, chargrilled oysters(Pville). And if you're turning your nose up at their boiled seafood I feel sorry for you. You can say whatever you want about the rest of their food, but they do a great job with their boiled seafood.
Willies in industriplex has crawfish, king crab, stone crab, blue crab boiled nightly or on the weekends.
ETA: Oh and to the OP, Taco Boudreaux sucks. I've been several times with a couple of different groups of friends wanting to try it. Almost everything I've tried has been pretty damn bad.

Mike all you ever seem to do is dog any BR resturant.
And I thought it was just chains you hated.
Montalbano's can't be that bad a location when he has lines out the door every evening.

No, I don't. I praise that which deserves praise, and I criticize that which deserves criticism. I just don't blow smoke just because they are local and have LSU flags on the walls.
Fact is, it is an awful location unless you're on your way home to Denham Springs. It's very near some bad neighborhoods, and it doesn't have very good traffic. I think Sherwood is an area that could benefit from something like I'm talking about, just a boiler where you can show up and dig into boiled seafood. Great beers on tap, and trow your shells into a can at the center of the table. Maybe some live music on the weekends, and a real casual atmosphere. BR likes casual, and being right off the Interstate, (BR Main Street) I think it would kill business. Keep the seafood market separate from the dining facility, and keep it fun.

I have really tried to like this place.
I just dont. 3 times I have been the food has been just ok. The service and length of time getting food has been really bad though. They dont seem to have a reliable service staff. 2 of the 3 times I went 1 girl was left working the entire place.
I really hate going to a place for lunch and not getting out of there in an hour and a half.

This is what I thought LA Seafood on Perkins was going to be. Instead they built an enourmous seafood store with very little seafood and outside seating for occasional boils. very disappointed with that place. They have to be shelling out money for that waste of space.
