So it's a $20 food-grade bucket and lid and a $15 heating element that they are selling for $90? Sounds like a steal.

Heating up plastic can cause chemicals and whatnot to contaminate the water in the bucket. No clue if it’s an issue with these, but I’m curious if it is.

Boiling plastic seems like a very bad idea. I'm sure it's "food safe" plastic so boil away! I'll pass on cooking the family dinner in a bucket.

I saw this this other day. Is it just a plastic bucket? How does it work?

Just watched a video on it. Pretty neat. It has a burner inside the bucket that brings the water to a boil (kind of like an electric kettle).

There were some cons for sure but it's kind of neat if you didn't want to boil seafood inside the house and you only wanted to do a small amount.

Someone gave me one about a year and a half ago. We use it at the beach on the balcony to boil shrimp, where you can't set you whole boil rig up.

I've also used it a few times to do boiled peanuts.

I like having it as an option when I don't want/can't use my boil rig.

I have a Turkey Fryer that came with a steam basket. When I want to boil 10 pounds of shrimp or a couple dozen crabs I use it.

You know what else I can do with it? I can make a gumbo, can some fruit, fry a turkey..... all things the Swamp Bucket can't do. I'll Pass, but, that's just my opinion.

Don't have to drag out the propane and big pot

You know they sell smaller pots, right? Not to mention said pot would be a lot more versatile than a damn plastic bucket.

Today I picked up a Swamp Bucket from Goodwood Hardware.

I boiled 8 lbs crawfish plus a pound each of sausage and taters.

Peeled easy and tasted great.

Easy clean up too.

Perfect for what I need it to do.

You shouldn’t even be boiling seafood if this is what concerns you.

Make sure you keep your latex gloves in stock for peeling.

Does the bucket mention anything about being boil safe and no chemicals when boiling? I’m very curious about this, whether or not the boys in back Brusly have guaranteed the plastic bucket is food safe for boiling.

You probably wore a helmet when you rode your bike, and never ate candy cigarettes.

If it’s BPA-free, nothing to worry about.

My concern is the boiling water in plastic. I have no clue if it’s an issue or not, but I am curious.

Also, where do you buy 8 pounds of live crawfish?
