I was thinking of trying Hello Tokyo in Gonzales tonight. I also heard they just opened up a new sushi place in Prairieville. How do they compare to Ichiban, Sushi Yama, etc?

It is Hello Tokyo 2, same owners. The same people own Sushi Masa on Essen. It is decent, but not anywhere close to Yama...

Went to Ikura a couple of weeks ago. It was ok but nowhere near the top BR spots.

But I really like fried sushi rolls and they have like 10 different ones so thats a plus for me.

Ikura has a ton of stuff off menu or at least they used to. They have a wasabi tower that is pretty good. Tell the waiter what you like and let them make suggestions...

There's a new one where Charlie Browns was. Near spankys. We went the other night. I got hibachi, but they don't have a hibachi table. It comes from the kitchen. My wife ordered sushi. Wife is pregnant so I didn't get to taste anything raw. Both were ok. I wouldn't get the hibachi again but would be willing to try some of their other rolls.

Has hello Tokyo 2 next to the new leblancs opened yet?

Eta: Oki is the name of the one we went to.

My inlaws live back there. I'm going to be spending a lot of money on food in that shopping center.

Depends on what you are after. I'd put them up against Ichiban. But that's not saying a lot.
