Suggestions on making a bulk portion drink for wedding

So I’m getting married on Saturday. 70 people coming, only about 40-50 drink. It’s at a large residence. I have a pirogue that I’m filling with ice and beer, but my fiancé and I have to make a mixed drink for the wedding. My last name Bonvillain so we are calling it a Bonvicane. I was thinking a type of hurricane drink, but I’m trying to keep it somewhat reasonable price wise. Has anyone ever put together something like this? Any suggestions or experiences are welcome.

You want to make jungle juice for your wedding?
I would do a big batch of like gin and tonic or something.

Yes when I was in a fraternity and having a house party.

Sangria is always a hit and can be done without being too pricy.

Does anyone really like to drink hurricanes?
Since you mention cost, I was thinking of sangria. It looks festive in a punchbowl or tall glass thanks to the cut fruit, it is economical as you can use a decent red boxed wine or something sold by the liter, requires just a bit of brandy, and it isn't terrible with food.
ETA: sangria must be a good idea, someone else had it

Yea I have a lot of people coming from out of town and out of country. If it were up to me I’d have scotch. But the wifey and most of her family want a Southern New Orleans type drink that’s fruity. So I thought hurricane. Now it’s crunch time and I have to make some bulk drink and soon.

Sangria is a good idea. I am a Cajun marrying a Latina woman. Haha

You sound like an immature frat boy. Good luck with that.

We called it Pool Juice or Bayou Juice. Was/ is always mixed in a 5 gallon Gott water cooler and served 50+ easy.
1/5 of Everclear
1/5 of Your favorite citrus flavored vodka (Stoli Citros)
1/5 of Malibu Black Rum
2 # quartered lemons
1# quartered limes
1 8oz bottle of Grenadine
1 gal Hawaiian Punch (ready to drink not concentrate)
1 bag of ice
Mix it all together.

Make 2 drinks. One big batch of sangria and one big batch of Sazeracs.

Kirkland Sangria + fresh fruit. Put it in a nice punchbowl. I've been to a couple of weddings that did this and the sangria went fast.
ETA: Try to keep the Alcohol percentage manageable. You want to make sure everyone can make it through the reception.

Go buy a dozen or so boxes of Franzia and really class up the place.

I've been to plenty of low budget receptions that were still very classy. I imagine OP will be wearing his dress hat at the alter.

I agree. I've had some fun times at downhome backyard receptions. At least he's not borrowing money, spending his parents' retirement funds, or pretending to be more affluent simply to impress so-called friends.
Another option not previously mentioned is something bubbly: a champagne or prosecco punch. Go to Dorignac's and tell the liquor dept guys you're looking for the best tasting, best priced prosecco or champagne, and they'll point you in the right direction.
Going the sangria or mixed punch route allows you to do a visually nice presentation: borrow a couple of punch bowls, make old-school fruited ice rings in bundt cake pans or ring molds, and float 'em in the punch. It's retro and cool!

In punch bowl, place 2-3 containers of Lime sherbet. Cover with ginger ale. Add liquor of your choice. Draft someone good looking to serve it.
