Last years version ranked up there with some of the best DIPA's I've had..... Including Pliny and abrasive

I would agree with this...

By the time we got Ruination 10th Anniversary in LA last year a lot of the flavor/aroma were starting to fade. I tried this years batch Saturday at the Avenue Pub and there was a lot more of the peachy/tropical fruit hop characteristics you'd expect from the addition of Citra to the dry hopping.

This beer will never be as highly rated as the two you mentioned, bc it's so widely available, but IMO it's a top tier west coast style DIPA. I'm glad Stone brought it back and we didn't have to wait 4 months for it to hit the shelves locally.

I had a sample of it last week and thought it was great. Went out and bought 4 bombers. Everything I look for in a Imperial IPA. Big hop bite with a strong malty backbone.

I am going to try it again but all I could get out of it was pure bitterness. Might not have been in the right state of mind but damn it was bitter.

Saw this at Rouses on Carrollton in Mid City NOLA yesterday. I am not a hop guy though, so did not get it.

You had the most recent batch? It's bitter, but so well balanced. I understand if you don't like super hoppy IPAs but for those that do...hard to hate on this beer.

Definitely think it's in my top 5 IPAs.

I don't care for hop bombs. I should have known seeing how it's a Ruination variant, but yeah those types aren't something I enjoy drinking very much. I would like to try it again sober, though. I was completely shitfaced when I tried it at Ave. Pub.

We all know I liked 10th anniversary. I consider it in the upper echelon DIPAs and I've said that all year.

Most likely in for something Thursday. Might not stay too late because I'll have to be packed up and ready to go to Jackson after work the next day but I'll try to come.

Are you talking about the new batch?

I thought you were a big fan of the original.

Could have something to do with it

Yeah, if you don't like the hop bombs it's gonna be hard to get into this beer. Massive hop presence and bitterness.

Like I said, I'll buy it in a bottle when I see it and probably enjoy the shite out of it but when I had it at the pub for pretty much my FBD it seemed VERY bitter and not nearly as hop forward smelling as before.
