Bug, if you are mulling over this adventure being in BR, the permitting might be the biggest nightmare. Ask Pasttime what it took to get a liquor license for their second location with a many decades long clean record at the original location. Ask Whole Foods why every other location in the South has or is putting in taps and they aren't. And what was it, the old time bar that burned down, Timeout Lounge (?), that the Southdown's HOA blocked from going into that party store (that's not in the most scenic area of town).
And it's not even as simple as it once was where all you had to do was grease a few palms. The NIMBY's, MADD, nearby businesses, and randoms will not want you selling alcohol anywhere near them. Of the many things that makes our city such a backwater, this might rank near the top on the ridiculous scale.

It's a shame. I'd love to have another local brewer to support in BR besides Tin Roof.

A plan I've been entertaining for a short while is to just get a part time job at one of the local breweries here or one of the bottleshops here in addition to my full time job.
So if anyone plans to start a brewery here in St Louis, I'd be happy to work nights and most weekends!

I was thinking this. There are a number of places that do this in Portland. Some are quite well known, like Belmont-Station Taproom/Bottleshop and Base Camp Brewing (I think Base Camp has two semi-permanent food trucks parked outside). This would allow you to have food during your peak times (lunch and happy hour), and even let you rotate - bbq on Wednesday, Mexican on Thursdays, etc...

I think it might be easier than you'd think. BR is still small enough that one-on-one outreach with people is really effective. You'd need to have meetings with various neighborhood associations, council members, and planning commission/department members/employees. The money spots would be where the new overlay districts are located and land use is more flexible.
I remember when they were planning Radio Bar. Those guys first got the adjacent neighbors on board, then the various neighborhood associations around the building (since it sits basically at an intersection of four neighborhood associations, plus three more close by), then the councilwoman, then the planning commission, and finally the full council. Another prospective bar down the street tried to open, and they went straight ot he council without first addressing the local residents. It was a disaster for them. It's a political game and you better have your best arse kissing lipstick on.

No but I do want to get some of that nifty side project stemware. Will be taking the lady friend to brunch on Sunday that's also a perennial tap takeover.
